Is this like watcher's keep where I can do it before killing sarevok? Or is it after?

Also does anyone know off the top of head what the xp cap is with tales installed?

Finally does my character carry over to BG2 with tutu? Xp and thieves skillpicks? Do immy and jaheira carry over with their weapon profs etc? I read something on 'dudley' website about carrying items over to SToA which are two items by default the helm of balduran and mail of dead. Do these need to be on my pc or in my inventory

Tales of the Swordcoast takes place before Sarevok, the game still ends if he dies. You can just a load a save right before you kill him and run through the new content though.

The XP cap is raised from 89.000 to 161.000. You can refer to the manual to see this and what level your class can get.

NPCs do not carry over anything from BG1. They have new stats in BG2.

As far as I know no items carry over from BG1 to BG2, except for the pantaloons. You can find the mail and the helm with any character.

I personally don't use Tutu, so don't know about the rest.

Your character will be just as he finished BG1, minus all items.

As AvatarofLight stated the pantaloons will carry over (they'll be in a concealed compartment in a room off the room you start in. You have to have them in your inventory, not in a container though,

The mail and helm of Balduran sometimes appear in the starter dungeon, whether you had them or not. However there have been occasions where they haven't turned up, even though I had them in my inventory at the end of BG1. This could have been because of other mods I had installed though.

Don't stress about carrying stuff over. You'll get to keep your stats and you'll get to re-assign skills.

The items you'll lose but you'll encounter some of them again although it's not worth it so don't think about what items to keep when you finish BG.

There are ways and means of keeping some items, particularly if you suffer from dropsy :D , but I think that the game is more balanced if you don't do this.
