Out of town

I have Cecil's map in hand to find magic artifact but cant find how to get to the forest from town???? This is the harpy thing, right? THX in advance

There's a path leading north out of Vergen. Just before You'd exit Vergen through the main gates (the heavily fortified ones with ramparts, murder holes, boiling oil and other lovely contraptions along both sides), take the right stairs and keep to the right. You'll find a bunch of elves and houses there (it looks like the Vergen's elven ghetto) and pass them there'll be a tunnel leading north to the river. Cross the river and You'll be in the forest.
