I want a party that solves most problems through magic.
Do i reallly need a healer?
Do I need a tank?
I would like to have 3,mostly 4 members.
Perhaps a blade?
Aerie?
A sorcerer?
And someone has got to do the thieving skills...
Can you suggest me a good party please?
Can Aerie be a good tank later?

1. Healer is not necessary but it make things easier.
2. It's very handy to have one tank, so mob's won't attack other character's (it saves a lot of potion's/healing spells)
3.I always used Jan or Yoshimo/Imoen for theving skills, Blade is very powerful class and it can act as a tank also.
4. Aerie is very good tank, but remember to always have Blur, Mirror Image and Stoneskin.

I like the Level 1 NPC mod as this allows you to place points where you want.
Doing that, Nalia makes a respectable thief with Arcane magic. Aerie is a respectable healer also with arcane magic and also makes a good tank as already pointed out. Xan if you have the mod installed makes a great sorcerer. If you play another sorcerer then you should have all bases covered.

PC Sorcerer, Aerie, and Jan will blow through the game.
With potions, regeneration, and rods of resurrection, healing is very optional.
Skeleton warriors, mordenkainen swords, and planetars/devas make very good tanks. Aerie does too at higher levels if you want to use her that way.

How would you make a party of only 2?

I wouldn't. You would lose all the interaction between characters, but if you are not interested in that, you could start in BG1 with two characters, a thief and a cleric, both human. Then you could dual them to a mage.
That way, they would be strong mages with just enough qualities of the thief and cleric to survive. Your cleric would specialise in staves and slings and would end up with the staff of the magi. Your thief could specialise in Long swords and short bows.
Your thief could start out as an adventurer to give the extra points in lock picking, and your cleric could start out as whatever type takes your fancy.
Alternatively have a cleric/illusionist gnome and an mage/thief elf.

What do you think about this team:
Fighter/Illusionist
(Specialist mage for more spells per day)
and Aerie.
(for romance and to cover the spells the protagonist cant cast and clerical buffs)
I am just not sure what proficiencies to give the protagonist.Any tips on this?
Also perhaps you got a good list of spells to use?
I played this game so often with a full party so I dont mind the decreased frequency of banter.
I want to challenge myself with this team now.
