Help locating a mod

Post by vaypah »

Hello all you happy Baldur's Gaters :D

I've recently stumbled upon Stworca's most excellent INSANE LP of BG2 and I got the itch again :laugh:

In an effort to make things a bit more "interesting" I am trying to locate a mod I remember seeing at one point that limited your XP based on the chapter you were in.
For example, you would be limited to 250.000 XP while still in chapter 2, 500.000 in chapter 3 and so on, until the "old" cap of 1.950.000 for the end of chapter 6(or was it 7?)

Could any of you fine gents(and gentettes ;) ) help me with a download location?

And if you know of any mod like this for BG Trilogy fell free to share.

Well, I know bunch of mods, but I don't (even vaguely) know about which mod you're talking about. :( If you want to be limited in XP you can always install XPMod, which reduces the gained XP (well duh :rolleyes: )
~SETUP-XPMOD.TP2~ #0 #1 // Creature XP Reduction -> Reduce to 50%: v6 BWP Fix
~SETUP-XPMOD.TP2~ #0 #12 // Quest XP Reduction -> Reduce to 50%: v6 BWP Fix
I didn't find the file through google, but here a useful link - this program finds the mods for you.

Spellhold Studios -> Download Manager -> BiG World Project -> BiG World Setup v9.10

I believe there was something like that in old SCSII but they seem to have removed it somewhere along the way, and replaced with a pre-set xp cap.

There is a dynamic xp cap in Improved Anvil (although i dislike that mod, and would not recommend it, should anyone listen)

What you can do easily, and what i keep doing, is use CLUAConsole to roll back your experience to the desired value every once in a while.

Also ; Thank you, kind sir. :D

Much obliged, Aliyappo.

I did find something interesting for my BGT play through: BG1 Level Cap Reinstator which limits your BG1 portion of BGT to the original TotSC maximum of 161.000.
No more level 5 spells for me! :p

Now then...I'm off to dig up some BG2 scripting tutorials so I can hack myself something similar to what I was looking for.

Cheers :D

PS:
OMG! OMG! Stworca replied to my post! :eek:
@Stworca: I'm trying to save myself some work by not having to CLUAConsole every couple of hours or so. I'll see what I can coble together myself and if I'm successful I'll share the results ;)

You could export/edit the XPCAP.2DA file with Near Infinity and change it throughout the game as you want. It is only a text file. It should already be in the override directory.
