What level were you when you beat OOO?

Just curious... I am like level 20 and now I am high enough level to pretty much roam around, but I have to RUN away at certain points. For example I am simply not powerful enough to complete the thieves guild quests, all of them.

Which thieves guild quest? To be honest by the time any of my characters have got to level 20, with or without OOO or Francesco's, the game has no challenge left really.
That's mainly because the character's power is based on skill level, not character level. If you are using a mod that nerfs skill raising that probably has more to do with the problem than OOO.

Maybe its because the skills that I DO use are my majors. Rather than keeping unused skills low and leveling up miscellaneous skills.
Some hard enemies are gargoyles, nether liches, storm atronach. Anyhow the game is still quite challenging. Its interesting that you have had a different experience.
edit: maybe you can help me out? I am going to start a thread (so it has a logical topic) about helping defeating challenges in OOO.
edit: its possible that Less Annoying Magic Experience is increasing difficulty. The imps and gargoyles cast a ton of spells. The seducers drain 4-5 skills by like 30-40 points... and so forth. Of course LAME will also power me up once I train up my magic skills.

Did you play OOO Ray? Did you use majors as your main skills? In OOO it is not level scaled. The late guildquests and main quest is made to require a high power to complete. So if you enter the first Oblivion gate at level 10 you get pasted. Gamebreaking things like 100% chameleon 1 sec drain life spells are done away with.
I also use two realistic leveling mods which mean your stats and skills are MUCH lower for a given level. I am level 22 and I don't have any skills above 75 aside from alchemy. I only have probably 4 above 50. My stats are all around 40-50s.

Are you sure about the chameleon? I never bother with it usually, as you say it's a game breaker, but didn't think it could be controlled. Making the spell un-enchantable can be done, so I assume that's what's been done, but I think you can still achieve it quite easily.
Ironically although they disabled spell making for Drain Life, OOO actually makes even more devastating spells using drain life purchaseable; and they didn't disable demoralise or or invisibility, so mages still have it easy.

Less Anoying Magic makes chameleon cap out

Also costs a lot to cast. I have a lot of mods that change the character and OOO which changes the environment. I think it might have been a bad combo. Strictly speaking some should also make me more powerful however. I'm thinking of LAME (less annoying magic) which makes buff durations much longer so you can walk around with tons. Multiple summons also. Though of course LAME does remove most spells which break the game totally. For example paralyze is more expensive, chameleon, drain life.
I say its a bad combo not because it was not fun, but I just got tired of grinding for a two or three weeks play time and then still not being able to complete the first oblivion gate! At level 22. Of course my 'ability' as a player comes into question. Most every game that people say is too easy is either just right or else I give up due to not being able to beat something ahha.

I was a mere 19 when i beat oblivion, however i found full camellion gear between a ring an amulet, boots ect. I was mostly an archer with some mage but relied to heavy on my sword for someone to sneak. The problem with oblivion is u could beat the game at any level. In Zelda, completion and development of skills was important although there were no levels ect. I'm glad in Skyrim i get my butt whooped frequently by trolls and whitches. Im also glad knowing if i want to travel around i better have plenty of stamina becasue i had to run through areas (west areas near riften) due to heavy amounts of enemies walking throught the forest. Oblivion was great and i prefer it to the cold harsh mountain regions as far as setting, but thank u todd for making Skyrim more realistic.

If all your major skills are 25 then the maximum level is 52 without cheating, but it's very unlikely that you wouldn't have some skills higher than 25 at the start.
For example if your character is a Breton Mage then the max level would be 46.
