Hi a couple of questions:

1) I tried trading items to my second character necro > paladin. I created a game and stayed in it 5 minutes during a run on andariel..

Then I left the game with some gold out. Then tried to enter with paladin. It said no game found. So I went back to the necro and it said it found the game and I got my gold.

Then I tried again with allowing 50 levels difference between players and that didn't work either?? This used to work I don't understand!

2) If I can't figure out 1 then that means all my builds will be untwinked... So I can only go to nightmare, probably not hell! I had wanted to buy a nice skeletons wand with the paladin for the necro.

So if I am untwinked through nightmare do you know any general principles to help me? All the guides online are for rich players with items traded (#1 question above) except the fishymancer and even that uses items..

Summary

1) how do I transfer items
2) how do I make untwinked character go through nightmare?

1. Try going into a game with people in it and just hiding gold in a hard to find location.

2. Do Baal runs until you're level 45.

EDIT: I didn't notice this was single player. I don't remember the patch numbers off the top of my head, but are you running original or LoD? Whatever the case, try loading up on Full Rejuvenation potions.

Use ATMA. It does what you're looking for, without all the hassle.

ATMA is outdated, most people are now using Plugy. I remember getting a modified file to allow multiple instances of Diablo 2 on the same machine. In my opinion, this is far better than relying on editors.

Thanks guys. DaveO I had just read about ATMA but it doesn't seem updated to 1.13...

I'll look for PlugY

I found diablo 2 a bit of a different experience from sacred 2... There are very few builds for diablo 2 it seems. The necromancer struggles against Duriel.. Not too many skills that win the fight. Thus it seems more like a non-rpg where you look up a cookie cutter rather than do your own build. Very dissapointing I am hoping that the other classes have more flexibility... My preference would be to not do any research into guides and just explore the game myself. PlugY (I have installed now) has a respec option so that seems doable.
