Hi guys, remember mer?
I've got BG1 and Totsc and i've installed BGT. I'm going to play evil again, Lawful Evil this time. I've thought of my character as being an expert in close combat and missile weapons, making me think Fighter/Thief. But then, maybe i'll not use a 6-man party. Is it better to use, for example 3 NPC's and me be a F/M/T? That could be fun, but then i'd have do to it in BG1 and BG2... Well, anyway, I'm not wanting to use ShadowKeeper much this time around- does it even work in BGT?- I might use it to modify NPC's to my needs. Also, does an XP cap remover count as cheating? I'd like to use one, but I don't want to cheat at all this time (I don't think modifying NPC's count, i'm just changing their class and stats appropriately so I have, for example, the great personality of Edwin with a Wild Mage(I'm not going to SK him, just an example)).
I'm leaning towards an f/m. I've considered an Assassin briefly, but i don't think he'd be a great frontline fighter. Also, I've heard that the ideal party should have two frontline fighters, two archers, one mage, one thief and one cleric. Could someone please suggest how I'd do this in BG and BG2- with the same main character, of course! Thanks in advance!

I'll just step in and say that my last character was a F/M/T, mostly soloed, but using NPCs for their relevant quests (Khalid and Jaheira in Nashkel, etc.). However, I found that, even soloed, the character's leveling rate was so abysmal that I could barely keep up. I'd heartily recommend that, if you want to multi-class, you stay with just two classes.

I'll heartily second what Garriath said. I tried starting a F/M/T in BG I and even with just 4 in the party it was taking what seemed like "forever" to level up in just 1 of the three classes.
I cannot imagine what it would be like in ToB.

I would imagine soloing or having just a single NPC would help but a solo F/M/T sure looks awfully fragile and really vulnerable. A single critical hit could kill them at virtually any part early in the game.

Well guys, I've uninstalled BGT as I've felt that it doesn't feel right to play BG1 like BG2, there's always this feeling like it's not meant to be played like that. Well, anyway I've made a Neutral Evil human fighter called Silas, took me ages to get him 18 dex, 18 strength, 18 constitution and everything else 10. At level 13 i'll dual him to a thief. I've given him two points in Large Swords and two in Bows, when he's a thief i'll put points in Short Swords. It's pretty good seeing as how BG1's "best" class is actually a fighter, and sometime in BG2 or Totsc he'll be an epic dual-class. Thanks for all your answers, but now i've got to deal with an Evil party, they're always a pain to make...
