Just released today. I haven't gotten my copy yet, probably after the 1st. Anyone playing yet?

I was in Beta and have been playing since the 14th or 15th. I have to say: I'm utterly impressed.

My wife told me not to get it so it could be coming as a Christmas gift or maybe a money thing...to wait til after the 1st..lol.

Interested to see how it holds up over a week of playing and how the guild structure is. In beta I didn't see anything that really required a guild and didn't see anything "raiding" related (ala Warcraft) so wondering if it's mostly a solo player game with some optional "group quests" for added rewards.

Your assessment is correct. Guilds are nice, but far from required. The community seems very friendly & helpful, but maybe that's because I'm on an RP server.

Guilds are essentially an extra friends list and a chat channel. You can make custom chat channels in game so even if you are in more than one guild with characters on the same server you can still chat with your guild mates that aren't in the same guild as the character you are currently playing through a custom global channel. For anyone that has played City of Heroes it works sort of like global channels, but is restricted to individual servers, there is no way to bring up who is currently logged in with access to the channel, and there is no way to moderate the channel so anyone that knows the channel name can add it to their chat tabs and participate fully.

They have brushed against the subject of doing more with guilds, but it will likely be a while before anything more is done with them. It is currently cheap to create a guild with the hard part being to form a party to start the guild itself.

I have been playing since the 15th, and really loving it so far. Not in a guild, but groups have been very easy to come by when needed. The story is definitely been very engaging. I have been playing a Jedi Consular as my main, and a Jedi Knight as my alt so far, although I plan to try other classes too. My KotOR 3 craving has been thus far quite satisfied.

Actually, due to the lack of LFG tool and/or dualspeccing, finding a group has been frustrating for me. Not the "vanilla WoW" kind of frustration, but still, others have shown that it can be easily avoided.

As I've come to value Gawain's opinions on games I was actually considering buying this today; until I saw the price. £45! They are having a laugh, I'll wait until the game reaches a far more reasonable price.

What's the regular price then for games in the UK, galraen? 45 £ sounds like about 55€, which is normal here.

I will play when I can actually enter my product registration key...
I ordered a Digital Standard edition from Origin and entered my key that came with it, played fine during the grace period. Now the game asks me to enter the key again, but when I try to, it says the key has already been used. From reading the forums it seems to be a common problem right now.
Sent and email to customer support - still no reply. Not happy.

Are you sure you don't simply have to add a payment option? I had the exact same problem, and agreeing to a subscription plan solved it.

I could have bought Skyrim in the same store for £25, and was going to until I saw the queue, so I'll wait until after the Yuletide frenzy.

£45 is the normal price for console games, PC games are usually £15 less.

Wow, the UK is cheap in games then. I'll have to order more from Amazon...

Personal note: Skyrim is probably this year's most overrated game. Mind, it's good, but far, far, FAR from the near-perfection it gets credited. If you put a label on it saying "Obsidian", it would get torn to pieces by reviewers, in fact... (As a matter of fact: I think most Obsidian games are better, or at least, have more character.)

We have places where you can get games cheaper than in other European countries (yes I'm one of those rarities, a Brit that considers the UK to be part of Europe  ),but Amazon isn't usually one of them. We still get stuck with higher prices than the US though; usually the price in pounds is the same as it is in dollars, no matter what the exchange rate is.

Amazon.co.uk is about the only feasable place for me, though. Yes, we pay the same amount of Euros as Dollars for games too.

After finding out that along with the exhorbiant price you have to pay a monthly fee there's no way I'm going to be buying this game.

Yes it is like WoW with a monthly fee. I let my Warcraft account lapse two weeks ago in anticipation of playing SWTOR.

I'm enjoying Skyrim at the moment and was gaga over previews I watched yesterday for Reckoning that is slated to come out in March. It looks really good. I was blown away that R.A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane are the two guys driving this. The lead developer is the guy that did TES: Oblivion.

Impressive references, up untill the point "TES: Oblivion." :p
