can't defeat tanar'ri in sphere

I went into the sphere without a caster with the 'spell immunity' spell and no clerics with free action. Even if I did have a caster with free action I have the "free action does not protect against stun" option set in BG2tweaks because apparently David Gaider said that is how things were intended to be. I don't believe chaotic commands protects against stun, aka 'death gaze'. If you assume that free action is not available, then how do you fight against the tanar'ri? My whole party is just frozen and then killed before they really have a chance to do anything. My current party has Edwin at 11th level and that druid guy (can't remember his name) at 11th level and 4 multiplayered characters consisting of wizard slayer dualed to a mage at 5th level, a ranger at 9th level, a 10th level sorcerer, and a kensai.
It looks like I am going to have to go back to the start of the sphere and bring some spell immunity spells with me and maybe even allow free action to protect against stun and bring Viconia with me. I do have a berserker -> cleric in the sphere with me, but he hits L9 before the demon plane and duals over to a low level cleric. So enrage is not an option either. I guess I could bring minsc or korgan along for the ride though. It looks like the game might be basically unplayable without free action protecting against stun as Mr. Gaider originally intended. That is unfortunate.
I don't ever use magic immunity potions or scrolls because I think they are too cheesy. I would be open to using a freedom potion but I don't think it would really help.
