Leaving Fargrove 1st time-Quest stuck

I've got the collectors edition of Dungeon Lords, and am running as Administrator on windows XP

Although I've done this part the game before (twice) this time it seems to have glitched.
I have the magical relic, the horn, and have Aleisters letter to give to Davenmor. However, when i enter the manor to talk to him, he tells me to get to Arindale and find his daughter.
The issue is this- he never gives me actual permission to leave (any gate). He is supposed to give me his orders, right? But he never does. Even when i talk to the chambermaid and she tells me about how she helped the man's daughter escape, when i return to Davenmor, all i can say is 'Captain Okatta is in trouble' and then he tells me to not make accusations without proof. I need this guy to ask me to investigate his daughters disappearance, but he won't!

I have a save game from before i started the in-town quests, and one before entering the manor grounds.

I've tried restarting my game (with old character-at campfire) but ran into the same problem. It's really driving me crazy.

This problem, or one similar is mentioned briefly at the walkthrough page for Fargrove, but it says it doesn't effect anything, that the quest remains open, my quest is currently-- Aleister: 'bring the horn to soandso in Arindale' And it IS affecting gameplay, because I can't continue the game at all....

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

*Edit* Problem solved, Thanks galraen, the editor has been a big help!

All I can suggest is that you try using the editor. try changing the quest settings, but be warned the editor has it's quirks. I strongly recommend reading the thread first.

Okay, I'll try that, thanks. :)

Are you sure you went through all the dialogue with the chambermaid? Maybe there was a trigger missed?

I'm positive, tried it multiple times, too.

Anyway, thanks Galraen! I downloaded that editor, and fixed the problem (and a few since!) Thanks very much!

I ran into a similar problem while playing Urgoth. The guards at Ulm immediately tried to attack me and I couldn't get inside. I ended up just trashing the character and restarting the game. Maybe next time I'll try the editor.
