I have a Rogue who more than qualifies for Shadowdancer at level-up. She just leveled up to 7, with 15 ranks in Hide, Move Silently, and Tumble. She has the feats Dodge and Mobility. The level-up process won't let her choose Shadowdancer. Why is this?

Is it in a specific module?
Those can't be 15 ranks, as you're only lvl 7. The total bonus =/= ranks. It also includes item bonuses, DEX bonus, etc.

Well, when I pull up Skills on the Character site I get the number 15. I need much fewer than that. I leveled up to Shadowdancer in NWN1 at level 7. I had all the prerequisites, which are the levels in Hide, Move Silently, and Tumble, and the feats Dodge and Mobility, and I have them now with my Rogue in NWN2. Could you spell out the problem for Dummies for me? Thanks for your reply!

The number you see with skills is not equal to your rank. Your rank is part of that. The number you see is ranks + dex bonus + items + etc.
Again, is this in a specific module? Do you use addons, like Kaedrin? What do the prereqs in the unselectable class say?

When looking at skill prerequisites for any class you look at ONLY what is displayed at level-up (..which doesn't included bonuses from other sources like attribute modifiers, feats, etc..).

Because of the required 10 in Hide for the SD class - the earliest any build could select the SD class is at level 8.

Ex.

Rogue - a class where Hide is a "class skill" (meaning you can put in the maximum amount of skill points into that skill at each level-up).
lvl 1: 4 Hide
lvl 2: 1 Hide
lvl 3: 1 Hide
lvl 4: 1 Hide
lvl 5: 1 Hide
lvl 6: 1 Hide
lvl 7: 1 Hide

Total = 10 Hide

lvl 8 - you can now select the SD class provided you have the other prerequisites.

Thanks, Gawain and Scottg. The prerequisites for Shadowdancer are Feats: Dodge and Mobility. Skills: Move Silently 8, Hide 10, Tumble 5. Hopefully I will be able to level up to SD at Level 8. I don't care, as long as it's working correctly.
