How in the world, if you play as a solo person, kill something as mighty as a dragon, by yourself?

Oh, and also, does anyone know how to get the other panataloons from bg2 and bg1 w/o playing the game (ie through the global variables? Or a character file that has the pantaloons, could they email it to me? dik_lionheart@yahoo.com.au)

Cheers...

Well I guess it depends on what class and level you are. If you solo you have all the items for yourself so it aint that hard to protect yourself against their special attacks.
I think that the item codes for the pantaloons are misccb, misc 47, misc 48 but I am not sure.

Killing big nasties solo? well that really does depend on what you are playing, Thieves generally use traps and backstabs, warriors need to attemt to get their resistances up against big gribblies special attacks and they they whirlwind in for all they are worth, mages just use the robe of vecna combined with stupid amounts of cheese, you know, time stops, chain contingency/project image, etc. Druids use natures beauty and insects. Bards use combinations of anything..

What I'm trying to say is that it really isn't that difficult to kill off the big monstors whilst playing solo. Far more challenging is the large groups of monstors such as those found in watchers keep.

It's true, most of the big baddies are quite easy to bring down when you are solo. You are such a high level when you take them on. Things are difficult when you first start off but after a while it becomes quite simple. All you have to do (assuming your not using cheese) is to find a tactic that works well with the character you are using. Play on the enemy's weaknesses while utilising your strengths. There are so many weapons and bits of equipment that enable you to do things that your character normally can't do, ie fighters summoning monsters with figurines, mages using a certain staff  and daggers to become an ok melee fighter. It all comes down to tactics and stratergies, being able to think things through and use everything to your advantage.

I played through one full game giving all possible character bonuses (hell bonuses, lum the mad, etc) to my main character, a Monk. I then played through a complete game doing the exact same thing again, solo with the monk. Then I did it again. I now have 98% magic resistance, -18 AC, 25 str, 25 con, 21 dex, 15 int, 16 wis, 18 cha, permanent 60% resistance to cold, fire, and electricity, 6 hardiness and 10 greater whirlwinds, not to mention all the other lesser special abilities I've picked up, permanent negative plane protection, and 75% resistance to all physical damage (via the additional bhaal powers in ToB Pocket Plane patch/fix). All of that without a single piece of eq.

Ring of Gaax, Gauntlets of Crushing, Sling of Everard (for some of the harder melee's) and a cloak of mirroring later, and I'm virtually unstoppable. Brown dragons (Draconis) still kick my butt though, no Acid resistance, so I just got some scrolls of protection from it :)

The power items make the solo mode easy. Even the most restricted classes can access enough of them to play through (eg. Beastmaster).
An interesting extension is to play without items. I have played through SoA and later ToB separately with a sorcerer (without items). Currently I'm playing a shapeshifter druid.

Did anyone actually manage to defeat "the ToB boss" with a solo Beastmaster?

There is a pretty good staff in ToB... once you get that your Beastmaster is just as good as a normal fighter. But still it would be a damn hard fight.
