Question about baldur's gate 1 and tutu (and cheating)

Post by bluedragon »

Well, I've been playing baldur's gate since like 1998, so I've earned the right to cheat. (Cheat ridiculously.)

Basically I'm using baldurs gate tutu and soloing BG with a level 20 sorcerer.

(Save your horrific gasps for someone who cares! I'm an overpowered chaotic evil sorc running amock around the swordcoast. You mad?)

The real question:

I've noticed a few "bugs" when setting SetCurrentXP"20000000" on BG1 and tutu.

First, I noticed that some of the sorc spells are messed up when selecting spells, for example "invisible stalker" is messed up and shows the icon of "monster summoning" - and this spell doesn't work. There are a few other spells messed up like this (showing wrong icons, and the spells themselves are broken but I can't think of any specific examples.

Second when selecting sorcerer (or wizard) abilities, it seems a few of the abilities are "botched" and shows a different icon.

(For example, when picking abilities only about 80% of the true abilities are there, and there are a few icons that shouldn't be there. And when you pick that, the spell doesn't do anything. It shows the icon of a cloud & thunder, like the druid spell "thunder clap".

Has anyone cheated ridiculously like me and encountered that the higher level spells are broken in BG tutu?

Would anyone be willing to start a new BG1 campaign, start a sorc, setcurrentxp to around level 20, and see if the spells are messed up?

Sorry for the long twisted inquiry. Any clarification is invaluable.

PS: I'm running tons of mods, for example, a level cap remover, so the spells were probably never intended to go this high.

I always play BGTutu and haven't noticed this yet. Like you say, you run tons of mods, so the problem could originate from many different sources. Still I find it very strange. What BG EasyTutu does is basically copy over a lot of content from BG1, then copy a lot of content from BG2, then make 1 BG2 installation out of it. Unless there are massive errors in your BG2 installation from which the files were 'borrowed,' I don't see why there would be any major problems.

Perhaps they just didn't bother to copy some content which they didn't need. Like invisible stalkers. Why copy those? No one in BG1, NPCs included, can summon them. It would just make your BGTutu installation unnecessarily large.
You now bear the awesome responsibility of the Metal "Unit". Gussets of wind, seams like reality, pockets of resistance, the seat of power, and legs as flared as your temper. Polish it well; the onus is now on you.
