end of Ch 7 Ardo'd revenge

looking at the walkthru if I fight Yandric and he dies, he turnes into a fire spirit...if I kill him that will stop the workers and bodyguards from spawning. Do I have an error (?) I have killed the fire spirit over and over, but more and more bodyguards show up...How do I end the fight so that the courtyard is safe to plunder?
