Use any item ability

This is going to sound (very) newbie-ish, but I don't have the expansion yet, so you'll have to bear with me. If a thief or bard uses this ability on an item, he can use that item permenantly, right? I think I might be missing something here, this seems incrediby unbalanced. *Shudders at the thought of assasins backstabbing with Holy Avengers +6* So, how does it work, exactly?

You are in fact, right. Use Any Item is not a "once per day" ability, it's permenant.
Yes, a thief can backstab with the Holy Avenger. I don't think you can put a proficiency in it though. Not that -1 matters to a +5...

A thief can use Carsomyr but they cannot backstab with it since it is a two-handed sword. Only weapons usable by a thief prior to getting use any item can be backstabbed with.

Haha, thank god they cant,
Would anyone here care to see a theif get cranky and start going all stabby stabby with a plus 6 2 hander!
