Multiclass Bug with Special Abilities

There seems to be some kind of a bug regarding multi-class characters & high level abilities. I have played the same Fighter/Mage/Thief character soloing right from level 1 in Baldur's Gate and he is now approximately level 28(Fighter)/23(Mage)/35(Thief) - yes, I am obviously using the XP cap remover. Anyway, everytime I go up a level I am only offered the special abilities for fighters & thieves. This is really annoying because I have played this character more as a mage since the beginning.

Does anyone know if this is intentional or just a bug - or is there some way I can activate the mage specials in lieu of one of th other classes - I would actually happily dump both to get the mage ones. This system of selecting high level abilities is stupid and lazy (programming wise). You should only be able to pick the ability from the class that has gone up - I have 12 greater whirlwinds cos hardly anything else compares to it for simple usefulness.

Also - my mage didn't get any new spell slots at levels 21 & 23! What gives!?!

At very high levels a mage doesn't always get a new spellslot at level-ups.
As for the highlevel abilities, that's no bug. All the highlevel abilities for a f/m/t or f/m/c can't fit into the box where you select them.
As you're only supposed to become a level 17 mage (no 9th level spells) I suppose the developers decided to leave the mages highlevel abilities out (since most of them are 10th level spells, which you won't be able to cast).

Anyway, Sabre once made a fix so you were able to get your mage abilities after all.
You should ask him, if he would be so kind as to send it to you. Or check his site. (I believe there's a link to it at the buttom of his posts)
