Trademeet music in the Underdark?

Well, arriving in the Underdark for the second time now, just trying to finish up quests. I have encountered something odd, at certain times here, the Trademeet music plays...then at yet other times there a more gloomy, dark, melody playing (which is quite fitting). The Trademeet music really doesn't fit in with the theme here at all...so I'm wondering if it's possibly a bug or just the way it is? Strange, I think.

Really interesting question. What I can tell you for sure is that you're not experiencing a unique bug; that's how it is for everyone. I've always asked myself the same question, though - why, in a game that nails the music so well - could they have possibly chosen such a lighthearted theme for such a dark area?

Could totally have been a mistake in production, but if it was, it's never been fixed.

Hehe, I see. :) I wouldn't call the Trademeet melody "lighthearted", though, but it certainly does NOT fit in with the zone...I mean, here I am asking if it's a bug, something I wouldn't need to do if the melody wasn't so jarringly misplaced. The Trademeet melody sounds, to me, a little bit gloomy ('Tis a troubled town, after all), but nowhere near as something that should play in the Underdark - though, ofcourse, to each his own. :)

Quite the little mystery I seemed to have stumbled onto...thank you for shedding some light on this Garriath, now I know that it's working as intended...or is it? Err.. you know what I mean! ;)

My apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but as I've finally beaten the whole series proper I'm currently going over the whole list of the G3 fixpack fixes (without fear of spoilers) and I found this:

"Underdark Music Fixes

The music for the Underdark was referencing the incorrect music file for night-time music. It had been using Trademeet's theme. "

Mystery solved! ^^

Wow, there are people who's first move isn't to turn a games 'music' off?!

Wat. What?! SoA, and especially ToB has completely incredible musical scores! I can't believe there are people who actually play with the music off! :D

There are some songs that would be appropriate at times, like 'Death walks behind you' as my thief sneaks up on an unsuspecting victim. :D

Destroys the ambience for me I'm afraid, but I also can barely tolerate music in films either, even those that have scores I like. I'd much rather listen to them when not watching the film.

Conversely, I feel fitting music vastly enhances my immersion in a game world. :) I was particularly impressed with ToB's music, like the "Bhaalspawn battle" music that played whenever you fought one of the Bhaalspawn. It felt particularly fitting during the battle with Yaga-Shura which, for me, was the most epic experience in the whole expansion. :D To each his own though, of course. :)
