No Adept base class

The thing that worries me then, is:
a) Healing.
b) Poison.
c) Divine Vision.
I'd like Fighter & Mage as baseclasses. What are my options to deal with these problems?
Thanks in advance!

A. Potions. But really, by the time I reached level 20, enemies stopped doing much in the way of damage to me, and I stopped needing healing potions. The game isn't even close to being balanced with the new blue and green items.
B. Potions. Or the crystal of life. Cure Poison potions cost less that $100, and it's not like there's much else to spend money on.
C. Scouting. I've been playing with a Scouting skill of 5, and that's been fine.

Scouting Rank 5 is sufficient for most needs? Also to locate chests & whatnot on the worldmap?
Do Nether/Rune Magic offer anything worthwhile?

Nether gives you giant summons which in the original game were pretty sturdy. Celestial gives you divine intervention, which in my opinion is the most powerful spell in the game at least the vanilla.
Nether gives black blade of bhaal, the king of the damage blade spells.
Poison cloud is good from nether. Damage ward fire is good against demons.

As you might have guessed from the title, I'll probably end up with no Divine Magic. (If Valkyrie somehow unlocks it, all the better.)
Are there no heal-like spells in Nether & Rune?
"Damage Blade spells", do you mean spells that buff your weapon?

I'm guessing Scouting 5 gives you a radius of 25 feet or so, which isn't going to detect too many chests outside, but it's fine for everything inside. But generally speaking, it's the inside chests that are the good chests. You could also get the Ruby Ring from Davenmor's castle, and then equip it when you need it.

That ring is a "fixed" drop? I suppose it invokes the Vision spell? How quickly does it regenerate?

You can always find the ring in a locked upstairs cabinet in Davenmor Castle when you end the lockdown.

Thanks. I think I'm going to restart my character then.

GawainBS, I am curious why you are taking fighter when valkyrie (afaik) already has armor and weapon skills?

Because my current character is an Adept/Mage// Valkyrie/Monk. I don't want an exact copy.
