Stun bug

Stuns suddenly stopped working... the creature stunned freezes as is it should, but can still attack...Beholders keep firing spells at me even while stunned, for example. My own characters seem to be totally unaffected; they can even move around while stunned... Think my game just broke. Help!
UPDATE:
Ok...reinstalled both SoA and ToB, all patches and the g3 fixpack aswell, but it's still bugged. My characters will now get stunned properly, but Beholders seem to suddenly be immune to it. I KNOW they should not be, because I cleared out another Beholder lair earlier and used the Kuo-toa Bolts to great effect against them. Furthermore, the combat log clearly states "Beholder- Stunned.", but they still move around and casts spells... :S This is not just the Kuo-toa bolts' effect, I've also tried Power Word: Stun and Symbol: Stun. It seems to be working against humanoids, however, but I haven't really tried it against any other types of monsters.

It's a little unclear exactly what you tried on whom, so I cannot with certainty say that "what you did, didn't work because..." - since I'm not 100% sure about what you did. I do think of one thing though: Very often, creatures that are immune to a specific spell effect, are not immune to the same effect from a weapon. Like Power Word: Stun not working but Kuo-Toa bolts works like a charm. Some creatures are immune to fire magic but can be hurt by fire arrows (physical dmg and fire dmg). Cernd is in my party at the moment (he is, I'm not kidding) and when checking his resistances while shapechanged to greater werewolf he's got "Fire: 70" and "Magic Fire: 50". Some creatures are immune to spells from specific spell schools; beholders may (or may not, just speculating here) be immune to conjuration/summoning, since "Power Word: Stun" and "Symbol: Stun" are from this school both. Kuo-Toa bolts are not from this school though
Of course, these are alternative explanations and, as mentioned, speculation; since BGII has to be "the game with the highest amount of bugs ever released", it might just as well be, a bug

Not even close, it wasn't even made by Bethesda for god's sake!
BG certainly does have a lot of bugs, but mods are usually responsible for most bugs I've encountered. Not sure what may have caused this particular bug, but my immediate suspicion is the G3 Fixpack.

Aye, this seems the logical explanation to me too! Incidentally, do you have other mods installed other than G3 Fixpack? Sometimes, mods can be incompatible with each other and affect your game quite drastically.
I also found this tid bit of information in the read me file. Maybe it may prove useful to you:

Beholders don't get stunned, everything else does. Simple enough?
I have tried PW: Stun, Kuo-toa bolts and similar stuff against them, but it does not work. The combat log says Beholder- Stunned. But the creatures still moves around and fires spells at me.

Hehe, aye! Can only second that, try playing Oblivion or Morrowind. xD
It could be, it could not be. I suppose only way to test it is to uninstall the Fixpack when I encounter a Beholder group and see if that solves it. Worth a shot, thank you - though the fixpack fixes so many things I cannot imagine playing without it.

Nah, only the Fixpack, I'm something of a purist; I try to make do without mods for fear of situations just such as this.
I've followed the installation instructions, so that can't be it.
In all honesty, it's been some time since I moved onto the ToB portion of the game, and as such, I haven't run into any Beholders (yet), and I hope I wont, either. Outside of stuns, I can think of very few foolproof ways of beating them, they are by far what I consider the most annoying creatures in BG2. My tactic nowadays is Greater Malison followed by Glitterdust, so thank the gods for Lazarus Librarius (Only found 1 Glitterdust scroll in whole of SoA...)!

Greater Deathblow should take out all but the Hive Mothers if memory serves.

Hive Mothers?! Oh gods, the biggest ones I've fought was the Elder Orbs...I suppose your comment means that there are Beholders in ToB.... ahh....crap.
Don't answer that btw, no spoilers!!
Anyways, good luck getting a warrior in melee range for a Deathblow before he gets charmed, petrified, stunned, or downright killed.
My tactic against Beholders is usually to employ every damn aoe spell in the repertoire and then cross my fingers.

You don't have to get the warrior close, I assume you do have them equipped with missile weapons!?
PS GDB doesn't work on Death Tyrants either, but does work on all other beholders, including Elder Orbs

What kind of warrior uses missile weapons?!
(Good advice though, I didn't know DB/GDB worked with missile weapons)

One with an intelligence higher than 3?

Just use invisibility (which is available in countless shapes and forms throughout the game) if you really want to get that warrior into melee.

While we're on the subject of Beholders: Ran into an Elder Orb, Hive Mother and a Death Tyrant yesterday!
As I wasn't prepared I thought I was screwed for sure; but I actually beat them fairly easily, though Minsc got petrified... I actaully managed to blind two of them with Glitterdust, and the Hive Mother (I think), actually got stunned!! I think it was Sarevok using the Celestial Fury katana that stunned it...
Do you guys know what levels those types of Beholders are? Also, is there ANY way to avoid Death Ray (Death Ward doesn't help against it) and Petrification? Does the "Protection from Petrification" spell actually stop it (Haven't used that since BG1...)?
I'm beginning to suspect this bug I have encountered relates only to the normal "Beholder"s, or it was some specific type of Beholder in the Cult of the Sightless Eye-lair... The best explanation seems indeed to be the G3 fixpack, so I guess I'll just have to live with it. Thanks everyone.

Death Tyrant is level 14, Hive Mother 20.
The only way to avoid Death Ray is to make your saving throw, it bypasses magic resistance, a Death Ward should do the trick though.
Protection from Petrification should work.
