Happy Halloween! The latest Unofficial Patch 8.4 has been released
including the first ever new level, the recreation of the cut library :) !

http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampir...dlines.php#842
(this includes the library freeze and loading bug hotfixes)

Special thanks go to burgermeister for building the library map from
scratch, the geometry, the textures, the lighting and most entities,
using the SDK of Fire64 and Psycho-A, to a layout conceived together
with Wesp5. Thanks also to EntenSchreck, who added the huge cutscene
and Lenuska, who did the broadsword. Quest, puzzles, logs, surprise,
emails, note, guard and several entity fixes and additions by Wesp5.

Although the library level and 8.4 itself have been extensively beta-tested
by vladdmaster and Stosh, many thanks to both, there may still be issues,
especially with the library, as this is a completely new level. So feedback
and suggestions are welcome! Some minor issues are already known, like
a flickering decal and some weird LOD effects with two bookshelf models.

Amazing! Very, very nice job Wesp. What does this new warform model look like?

There is no new warform model, I mean not in 8.4. I replaced the strange man-bat warform with a cooler man-wolf in 8.3, but there were some missing model errors which I have fixed for now in 8.4!

Ah, I see. I have skipped a number of patches. Will try them again soon now.

Quick update! There was an issue with the new library level which has been fixed in the hotfix below. As a bonus you'll get some improvements to the beachhouse map too :) . Just extract into the main VTMB game directory.

This update is not needed anymore when using the patch version from the Moddb.

Wow - skipped a few of the patches, and it's a real blast to be tearing up undead L.A. again. Thanks for all your work (as usual ;) )! Can't wait to reach the new level.

Possible minor bug: The guard upstairs in the SM clinic will react to seduction and allow you to feed, but after that his "gtfo"-response is triggered. After a second seduction, he'll then open fire.

I'll try to fix that in the next patch version.

Hey Wesp5! Amazing you´re still churning out patches for this fine game, making it even better in the process... thanks for the hard work! :-)

I just dusted off my copy of VTM:B and wonder if your latest patch would work with the Clan Quest Mod, or is it recommended to install a seperate game for each? Also, did you include the (or a) resolution patch? Btw, the link above for the hotfix appears to be dead, but I assume it isn´t needed with 8.4.2?

The resolution patcher is included with the UP and you only need 8.4.2 and no hotfix anymore. But it is not compatible with the Clan Quest Mod, so better install a separate game for it!

Thanks for your very quick answer! I installed 8.4.2., seems to be working just fine so far playing a female Tory on Win7 64 with Radeon HD 6850.

Two (very minor) things I came across so far:

- opening credits not visible, I only get the sound; doesn´t affect gameplay, just curious how this came to be?

- upon entering SM Medical Clinic Room 4 the first time, the lootable pill bottle vanished into thin air... after reloading I could grab it and it showed up in my inventory, could sell it to Trip as well.

Also, I ran the ResPatch after installing 8.4.2... do I still have to run Install64? Game works fine so far, what does Install64 actually do? Thanks for helping out a layman ;-)

This must be some kind of graphics card issue, but I have them disabled them anyway ;) .

Hm, must be a strange random bug, never heard of it before.

No, that's only needed if you can't install the game at all on a 64bit system.[/quote]

I guess the game somehow noticed they annoy me anyway and decided to not show them :D
Wesp5 wrote:Hm, must be a strange random bug, never heard of it before.

It was kinda funny to watch that little bottle disappear... I´ll get back to you if I encounter more ingame strangeness ;)

So I should be fine, installation worked like a charm! Thanks again for your help and all the work you put in your patches!!

Just played through the new library level, and it was much more elaborate than I thought it was going to be. Also, for some reason, I didn't expect to see that security guard milling about (didn't know that it was possible to implement one into the level). Enjoyed exploring the level, and there was a decent "puzzle" towards the end. The voice actor for Andrei didn't botch the job, thankfully, though I know professional voice actors are hard to come by, so I wasn't expecting much on that front, if anything. Finally, the boss battle was a bit too easy with the SPAS, but I can't fault Wesp for that one.

I just wonder if there'll be more content in the form of new levels added into the game, and if Wesp will attempt more of these kind of updates in the future. Or, if anyone knows of any similar projects, I'd be glad to hear it.

I tried playing the new library level but didn't get very far. I found the vacuum tubes and got the elevator to work.. saw the new level ... it's pretty darn good.. saw the guard.. and i easily sneaked past him. I got the card and the braid and I hacked the computer and did the unlock .. .but now what? I didn't see any cutscene. I ran into all of the doors and nothing opened. am I supposed to kill the guard ? or shoot something? or did the unlock .. unlock something outside the library ? need help...

If you are playing the 8.4 version you need to go to the reading room and use the small globe there. This will open a secret passage in the backroom with the computer. In version 8.5 the whole thing should be a little more obvious already :) !

This sound was actually already included in the game files and done by Troika. I assume it was some kind of test but it did work as speech for the new level :) !

I doubt that there will be anything so big, but EntenSchreck, who did most of the discipline restorations already has some ideas for small new level sections or improvements!

Hey thanks.. for the quick response. I've got a small side question. Is there going to be a quick update from 8.4.2 (the version I'm using now) to 8.5 ? or just the full download ?

Just the full download, because you mustn't continue your old saved game anyway.

Well, implementing the new sound is definitely much appreciated! Can custom voice-acting be added in the future?

Small new level sections or improvements would be great, as long as they will be plentiful. Could you maybe hint on the possibilities for level segments/changes?

Custom voice-acting has already been used for the guard in the tutorial, but this was an exception, because his lines were already in the files. For new quests with new voice-acting, you will have to play the Clan Quest Mod.

As for new levels, I don't have something planned, but EntenSchreck wants to add a bit connecting the King's Way exit with the sewers and a Hallowbrook Hotel roof map because there is obviously something missing.
