hello all and thank you for viewing my post. i have been wanting to play vtmbl for some time now and i am unable to install. i would like to know if anyone out there might be able to help or guide me in relation to getting this game up on my machine. i have done some digging around with no resolution in sight and am now here asking for help or advice. anyhow, let me cut to the chase.. i have windows xp 64 bit os. and that seems to be the problem. my ultimate question is this. has anyone successfully installed bloodlines on windows xp 64 bit? if so, may i get a little help installing or advice on how to. please. thank you kindly.

So what happens?`Bloodlines runs fine on Windows 7 64bit! Also there is an alternate installer for 64bit included with the Unofficial Patch, you should try this...

Agreed, it works fine on Windows7 64 bit. I installed from the original CDs on a Toshiba (AMD at that) and it hit the 15MB warning during install. I downloaded the patch for 64 bit, but simply changing compatibility to XP (SP3) was enough to get it up and running if I dont mind missing the company logos at startup. Hit enter until you get to the start screen for save, load, etc.....and start playing. Steam users may have problems, but I didn't even need the patches recommended to start playing. Since I've played it way back in the day, I know so far, I am not missing anything except the company logos at the start up. What install problems are you having exactly??

I'm also having trouble installing the patches. I can run the vanilla game (so unpatched) but as soon as I patch it with either the standard 1.2 patch or one of the Wespe patches The game crashes with a not enough memory issue.
I'm also running this game on a 64bit PC with Windows XP and over 2,0 GB of RAM.

To be clear, I am NOT running it on a PC with either Vista or Windows 7. I've found multiple suggestions online concerning fixing issues with this game but none for this setup. Anyone have any sugestions? I would really like to play this game with the extra's provided with these unofficial patches.

Thanks in advance,
Narwan

Still not working, tried the official 1.2 patch, the 8.51 and 8.6 unofficial patches and the final nights mod too. All on fresh installs. Must have installed and uninstaled close to two dozen times now.
Tried reducing the memory allocated to the 1800 or less I read somewhere might work, no change. Tried to run in WIN 2000, NT and 98 compatibility, no change.
The only time a change occurred was when I used a different screen resolution prior to starting the game after a fresh install. It still crashed but instead of going direct to desktop I got a 'windows encountered an unexpected problem' message after which it went to desktop.

The only patch that does seem to work, in the sense at least that it doesn't crash me, is the truepatch. But it doesn't enhance the game that much and I still got stuck in a gameloop twice during the tutorial.

So I want to replay this game (nostalgia) with some extras but all the other patches and mods that add to the game instead of solving the not enough memory problem create the problem instead!
I'm no computer wizz, I don't see the connection here but someone out there must have an idea?

What resolution do you use? If you came farther along using a different resolution you should use the respatcher to adjust it exactly to your monitor and maybe use some command line parameters in this case too, which are mentioned in the readme. Also do you use a two monitor setup? Have you tried the different vampire.dlls that the patch provides yet? Have you read the troubleshooting infos at the end of the patch readme?

Thanks for getting back to me, to answer your questions:

was using 1280x720 resolution
just a single monitor
have tried the different vampire.dlls
have also read the trouble shooting cs that come with the different patches and mods.

Copying form the bin to regular file didn't work. There's one thing I found in the readme I haven't done, that is to set the priority low when running dual core. I don't know how to do that. I also haven't changed any command lines. I'm no computer wizz but I know enough to know that I lack the skills and knowledge that if I do it wrong I won't be able to correct anything.

Here's more specifics for my setup:

Intel Core 2 cpu 6600 2,4 Ghz
64-bit Intel EM64T
2,0 GB RAM

It''s not the files either, I got them running on another computer since posting, that's a laptop though and I'd prefer to get this running on my desktop.

Running the respatcher at the end of the patching give an error message. I suspect it's a video issue.

Edit: gave wrong resolution

What is your graphics card? Is it this Intel something mentioned above? If so, the game is known to not work with onboard solutions, unless you use 3D-Analyze to tweak it...
