Help finding information for abilities for Dual-Class

Hello,
I have downloaded Icewind Dale from gog.com and so far I have played a little bit with it. I am now trying to get serious with creating a Dual class fighter who will eventually become a cleric at level 9. What are the minimum requirements for the ability numbers, so that my fighter can "qualify" for Dual class as a cleric? I am having a tough time finding this in the IWD manual.

I thought by setting his original strength to 16 and his wisdom to 17, that he would qualify. But it doesn't. As the game starts out, the Dual class button is visible under his profile, but its not clickable.

For a fighter to dual to a Cleric you need 15+ Strength and 17+ Wisdom, I don't know if it's been done before, but in case it hasn't I'll list all the requirements:

To dual from:

Class - minimum requirement

Fighter - 15 strength
Cleric - 15 Wisdom
Ranger - 15 Strength, Dexterity and Wisdom
Thief - 15 Dexterity
Mage - 15 Intelligence
Druid - 15 Wisdom and Charisma

To dual to:

As above but instead of 15 you need 17

So to dual from a Ranger to Cleric you'd need 15+ strength, 15+ Dexterity and 17 Wisdom, to go the other way you'd need 17 in all of them.

PS the only combinations possible in BG/SoA/ToB are

Fghter/Thief
Cleric/Mage
Cleric/Ranger
Cleric/Thief
Fighter/Cleric
Fighter/Druid
Fighter/Mage
Mage/Thief

In Normal AD&D you can combine other classes, Druid/Mage, or even (1st Edition) Monk/Mage, but the limitations of the Infinity engine as used in the game prevent them.

You can go either direction, but you can only have a kit for the first class. So if you go from Fighter to Cleric then, Berserker/Cleric Yes, Berserker/Priest of Helm No.

Then I do have my settings correct. I just started the game with a fighter who has a strength of 16 and a wisdom of 17. Then why would the Dual-Class button not be enabled (clickable) while traveling through the first region of the game? Do I have to wait until he reaches a certain level in order for the Dual-Class button to work?

You have to gain a level first, there isn't a fixed level. Are you playing the original Baldur's Gate or Tuto or Baldur's Gate Trilogy?

BTW, it's the worth the time (if you consider restarting anyway) to roll sufficiently high stats to get an 18/51+ in STR for a Fighter.

It's Icewind Dale, actually. He mentions it in the original post, and this is the Icewind Dale forums. Baldur's Gate isn't the only Infinity Engine franchise, you know :P
It surprised me that you mentioned kits, since they aren't available (to my knowledge) in Icewind Dale's setting

Woops, I obviously competely missed that it was the IWD forum, apologies. However the rest re dual classing should be right shouldn't it? It's so long since I played the game I can't be totally sure.
