Problems with the final battle in new Ascension MOD: Anyone to help?

Hi there.

I desperately need your advice concerning the last battle. My problems are: first that bloody scam Saverok (my best fighter!) has turn against me and joined forces with Melissan! (As if it wasn't enought that she had brought Imoen and turn her into Slayer to kill me!)And second, I simply cannot kill Sendai, who seems too fond of killing Anomen every time I resurrect him.

Anyway. My party is round level 34 and consisted of:
My pc (fighter/mage/thief)
Keldorn
Anomen
Nalia
Aerie

and Balthazar, who somehow has managed to survive so far, but I suspect his end waits him in the corner.

This is my second time throught the game, I'm not that experienced, as I have stated before, but this final battle is rather overwhelming: I keep dying no matter what I do, Sendai turns invisible and neither Keldorn's True Sight nor my Detect Invisibility are enough to find her. As for Anomen's Invisibility Purge, well, he is dead before the casting.

I know, I could turn the difficulty level lower (it's set to Core rules for the time), but I've thought someone out there could possibly give some assistance before I choose this solution? Any tips?

Many thanks

Yeah I was afraid of that.

If you don't treat Sarevok right, he turns on you.

If you're a good character, and you treat him nicely even when he's an *******, eventually he talks to you about his views and he goes from Chaotic Evil to Chaotic Good. And when Melissan offers him power, he tells her to **** off.

I did treat him nice all the time. The problem is that the famous dialogue never came up and despite what it is said, new Ascension didn't help me in the least to get any chance of showing Saverok if I'm well worth being his enemy or his friend.

Any ideas about Sendai?

I don't remember having much problem with Sendai's invisibility. If neither Dispel Magic nor True Sight work you should use a Deva or Planetar to reveal her position and cast area spells.
And you have three mages, just hit her with the appropriate spells before she can even do anything.

She's moving like hell. Once I locate her position she has already moved --invisibly, pray you-- out of our sight!

We are three mages, alright; but we're constantly interrupted by the rest of her bloody party. Geez! They are all moving so fast, as if they have taken drugs or something!

With Robe of Vecna you should be able to cast Time Stop before she goes invisible. Just use Mirror Image to be protected from spell disruption.
Another idea: you could also use invisibility! Cast Mass Invisibility on the party and even mislead with your mages. Only Abazigal can see the invisible (though Sendai will cast True Sight later on).

Thanks, Kovi. I'll give it a try, trying also to stay calm this time. :)

Yikes, I forsee a disaster with my party... trying Ascension with a good party this time.

I failed to convince Sevorak to turn to good. Think it was my "With responsibility comes power" comment.

So my party is:
Me (archer), Korgy (couldn't help it), Sevorak, Imoen.

So if Imoen turns into a slayer and Sevorak turns on me... ouch.

Should be interesting.

Ah, it would be fatally interesting!

I know Sendai turns invisible, but really True Seeing or any kind of Invisibility purge should take care of that. Hmmm...unless she's got a Spell Immunity going. I don't think so, I'd have to check.

The one thing that Sendai will do that'll jerk your chain is Dimension Door about when she feels it's necessary.

Illasera (the archer) is the one who's invisibility is not dispellable...she's actually going ethereal, so it's not the same. This is the same ability that Imoen picks up. As far as defeating her otherwise...keep in mind that Sendai's spells are completely interruptable and that she has to protect herself like any other caster. She's got a good MR (for being drow), but far less immunities than when you met her the first time. Watch carefully on the feedback to see which spells she's using in her initial contingencies.

As for Sarevok, if you're patched up to at least v1.3, his dialogues should be forced to occur if you haven't had them yet. You will have had to play the whole expansion (the new timers are event-driven) and rest at least once after you install the mod (resting starts his first dialogue).

@Rylock

Oh, thanks for the extensive analysis!!

Since I posted this thread I've managed to kill Sendai --don't ask me how I did it; I was in such a panic I hardly remember my exact moves. As for Illasera, I had suspected about her going etheral something, for Aerie wears boots giving her a similar ability or something of the sort.

Regarding Sarevok now: I downloaded the patch for the Ascension, and indeed: there were some dialogues triggered before leaving the Pocket Plane for good. But nothing more than two or three dialogues. That is, no change in his alignment as I have read in other threads or any implication of the sort. Those dialogues, however, there haven't occured after resting or something, but just before we step outdoors.

Anyway. I'm still working my way going to the final battles. I hope to win one of these days.

P.S. I've downloaded the Ascension MOD just before going to meet Balthazar at the monastery --rather late in the game. Is this "delay" possibly responsible for the completion of Sarevok's dialogues?

Again, many thanks!

Aubrey-
The dialogues for Sarevok were always there, however, I believe that they appeared randomly, and there were some bugs relating to them. Ascension forces them to occur (I believe it actually links them to events). Therefore, when you d/led it late into the game, all of these things had already happened...so all the dialogues came up very quickly.

In fact, only a couple of them occured while we're going to face Melissan; and that's the reason why Sarevok betrayed me and joined forces with her.

Now I'm restarting ToB...

FWIW, Balthazar has proved himself a decent ally: he survived till the final battle with the 5.

Cheers

Survived? Yes, he does spend a lot of time running away, so this doesn't suprise me.

If pathetic were a form, it would be Balthazar. A truly feeble man.
