Picking up Sarevok and turning neutral evil.

I've finished Irenicus as a chaotic good character. Now, when I start with ToB I have the opportunity to add Sarevok to my party. Giving him a piece of my soul(or Imoen's) will bring him back to life so that he can join. He's a great fighter and deals out good damage, so I had to have him. Does the player character turn neutral evil when you give him a piece of your soul? Does Imoen turn neutral evil when she gives a piece? I don't want to be evil, but I still want Sarevok with me. Is there a way around this problem or do I have to sacrifice Imoen's alignment or my own anyway? I've also been told that Sarevok can turn to good alignment during the course of the game, so why must I or Imoen turn evil just for restoring him and picking him up? I Thought that bringing someone back to life and granting them mercy was a good and noble thing.

Well, I don't understand...
Maybe you become neutral evil because you
let imoen do it for you!
I remained Chaotic Good in my game.
Then if you accept Sarevok WITHOUT asking for
the Oath, then keep trusting him and the like, he'll turn good.

The only times that I know when your alignment change are during the challenges in Hell or as a result of a Wild Surge. Picking up Sarevok should not change your alignment, no matter who gave him part of their soul.

can anyone tell me how long before sarevok changes alignment and does he get any other changes besides alignment?

SPOILERS

Viconias change is a part of her romance. It's an option you're given along the way.

And Sarevoks change is also optional. Alongside it's very random when you're given the dialogues. For me, the final dialogue (I believe there're 3 or 4) usually happens around the 1st enclave I conquer.
But I've heard from others that they've finished ToB without even a single dialogue from Sarevok. As I stated: Very random.

Sarevok's alignment change happen over a series of 3 to 4 party interaction dialogues; the problem with these are that they are random - to what extend, I have no idea. So you might get them within 10 minutes or never during the entire game, they're random.

Viconia's alignment change only happen if you're romancing her. Just persuade her against destruction and death etc. during romance dialogues - if such choices appear.

Yeah if you took the evil route in the greed (or fear, I'm not 100% sure) then your alignment changes as a reprucussion (if your good, if your evil it doesnt change) of the test, but the game originally never gave the user a warning or heads up. There is a fix that will let the user know when it happens in either the patch or a bug fix file on baldurdash, I cant remember.

Oh yeah and Hey everyone... This is my first post.

I've found out where my alignment changes. It happens as soon as I put the last tear in the door where Irenicus comes out of. Right after I'm given +2 to my strength. I really don't know why this happens.I think I did the five tests correctly.
1. Didn't turn into slayer at Sarevok's test.
2. Gave Blackrazor away at greed test.
3. sacrificed myself at kidnapping test.
4. Didn't take the cloak at fear test.
5. Didn't have to kill the dragon at pride test.
I know I'm sill chaotic good after i've placed 4 of the 5 tears.I've checked it. By placing the 5th tear and after receiving +2 to my strength my character turns neutral evil out of the blue(I hit pause right after i'm given +2 to strength to check my stats).
WHY THE HELL DOES THIS HAPPEN?

think getting the +2 strength is the evil option. even if u say u will turn to slayer /give in BUT not turn into slayer thats still counted. u have to refuse to turn slayer in the conversation then u dont change alignment (cant remember the tear bonus)

Could have been a bug with your game, try installing the bugfix pack from Baldurdash.

@dranatos ....i didn't attack Sarevock and i still went NE :(

heres how i did things...
-Pride: evil
-Fear:good
-Selfish:good
-Greed:good
-Wrath:good
*Sarevock:gave him myself

so really i think you turn NE if you do any of them as EVIL....possibly if you revive sarevok in any way too....sorta sux as i didn't want to be NE either...

AS I said before, you do not turn to Neutral Evil if you revive Sarevok - since you have to revive him to beable to get out of the Fotress.

You will turn Evil if you do any of the tests in Hell to evil way. Since you did the Pride test the evil way, you turn to Neutral Evil.

right...so thats what i understand....and so how does this all affect things like reputation?

I am playing ToB and turned NE..i have Sarevok and he is still CE...my rep keeps climbing from the lil quests and man Sarevok don't like it..in addition my alignment being NE and the rep increasing things sorta conflits...right?

Now i can easily go back and make sure i stay CG but i want to play Sarevok (currently hes 20th lvl and i dualed him in mage and hes 10th in that) and so will being CG and having him in the party as CE affect him changing to NE? or does it really not matter he's going to have probs with the party no matter what....?

btw...i really don't mind playing NE ;) just that i was playing things as CG and had planed to finish the game that way...

The reputation increase is because of the quests, if you don't like it, stop doing good quests.

I don't really get your second question but I'll try to answer it anyway. Your alignment have no effect what so ever on Sarevok, although being evil might change the chance you got at changing him to Chaotic Good - but then again you're evil, so why would you want to change him. If you keep on getting higher rep, Sarevok is going to complain no matter what your alignment is. Your alignment won't change when you pick up Sarevok - as explained previously.

welp...i was just looking for sum sorta balance...and really i found it...simply use slayer more often to keep the rep in the 13-16 range...it only helps a lil with his complaining :( mostly i don't want to end up with a 20 rep and have him walk out on the party...i don't play with all kinds of saves backed up in case i miss sumthing or mess up. In addition being the leader of the group i try to keep them all happy ;)

but...thnks man you did awnser all my questions :)

I believe evil people won't leave the party in ToB. They'll complain, but won't leave.

That's correct. I've had Sarevok in my group with a reputation of 20. Of course, you have to put up with his complaining.

I'm going through ToB (second time)just for trying having Saverok in my party. BUT every five minutes or so he says, "We have to kill something, soon... my impatience grows."

He drives me nuts! Is he going to repeat it till the end of the game? Because, I don't know if I can stand it...

Cheers
