Frozen Alignment...

greetings!
i have a feeling that my alignment is "frozen"...
what does that mean? well it simply can't change.. don't know why or how, but it can't change... i'm still in sigil but i'm going to leave it soon... when i start the game... in the beginning i became neutral good then lawful good then back to neutral good and since then it remained neutral good... tried to use the grimoire to check if it is true or not, but nothing has changed... i even killed everyone in the mortuary and in the gathering dust bar, and on the streets of the hive... i hoped because of it i become chaotic (neutral) or similar like that but nothing...
is it a known bug? is it possible to check my alignment somehow (without mods, with a savegame editor or something like that)?

AFAIK, nothing can "freeze" your alignment.
It is determined by two numerical values : Law and Good. Any value between -20 and 15 means you are neutral in this domain.

Otherwise...
Good over 15 = Good (no kidding), below -20 = Evil.
Law over 15 = Lawful, below -20 = Chaotic.

You can check those values by opening the statistics screen (hotkey S), and hovering your mouse over the alignment circle near your portrait. All the alignment info will be displayed on the right.

FYI, lying and breaking vows makes you Chaotic, demanding rewards and regarding your allies as tools makes you Evil. Killing everyone is another efficient way to become Chaotic Evil. It is weird that nothing changed. Maybe you were still over 15 in good after your rampaging.

that's why i suspect a bug, because this thing is very strange...
well, okay, the "goodness" can be explained this way, maybe i'm a very, very good guy.
but what's with the neutral? after the havoc i caused it should be chaotic i think...
how and where can you check the points?

Hmm.
I think a picture will explain it better.

Place your cursor in the circle near the portrait, then your alignment "values" will be displayed.
In my case, both of them are between -20 and 15, so I am True Neutral.
Is it clearer?

Keep in mind that only a few key conversations in the game can brutally change your alignment. Most of the time, a single action will merely add or substract 1 point in your values.

Do the numbers show up in the standard game? Or only with mods?

Oh... You're right, my bad.
It is part of the tweak pack ("scale of souls"). I've almost never played without it, so I hardly remember how the vanilla game was.

You can find it here.

I know you said "without mods", but even if this one is not mandatory, unmodded Torment is... meh.
(After checking, it looks like the lower boundary value is -20, not -15. I edited my first post.)

well that was the problem then. :) all right... i don't want to mess with the current installation, so i'm going to install the game on the other pc, put the mod on, and we'll see if anything changes. thank you

all right... i've done the procedure (described in the previous reply) and it seems the game is not corrupted/bugged...
first picture (before using the grimoire):

second picture (after using /all the advices of/ the grimoire):

so problem solved... i'm "too good" (i had no clue it will be this high...) and in the middle between chaotic and lawful, so that's because it doesn't change lately... thanks for the help :)

so i've finished this wonderful game today, and i remained neutral good the whole time.
my question is (for anyone who reads this topic): how often have your alignment changed in the game?

Mine has been Chaotic Neutral to Lawful Good. I seem to gravitate heavily towards Lawful Good, though.

I like to set my mind on a specific behaviour and stick to it when I play, so actually, it never does.
