Hi

More adventure tales from the intrepid mage/thief Hayate. If you’ve read my previous post on this character then you know Hayate is a multi-class elf mage/thief with a tendency to wander and get into a lot of trouble and this is where our story begins….

The Severed Hand Level 2:

Hayate although not the most patriotic of elves found that she was really ticked off that a bunch of lowly goblins and orcs decided to make a mess of one of the great Elven fortresses that belong to her people. Angered and a bit reckless she wanders onto the second level determined to scout and remove these unwanted quests. Our story begins here…she wandered up to the second level and successfully scouted the area piece by piece – snipping and luring these unwanted pests to their ultimate demise for destroying the Hand. While using ‘hide in shadows’ and having enough weapons, spells, and potions to defeat and /or escape at the last moment she ventured to the last unexplored part of the second level.

Righteous anger burned and fueled her step as she slipped by undetected among these pests that dared make a mess of her people’s fortress. She laughed a silent almost evil laugh as she explored among these villains and planned on taking revenge for her people. While sneaking around she noticed there were a lot of goblins and orcs – perfect lots of pests to get rid of and get rid of her righteous anger but unfortunately the ‘hide-in-shadows’ suddenly gave out at a most inconvenient time and she was exposed to the monsters and totally surrounded by them. To close to use an area spell, no time to prepare another spell at all, she was left to run for it (having the boots of speed I could out run them all and save my potions) but the buggers hamstrung me with well-placed shots and she collapsed on to the floor. The pain was intense (I really hate getting hit my arrows) but she managed to get up and make a run for it as best as she could. But she wasn’t ready to give up yet, she took a few more steps found an open space and decided to take a quick sip of the invisibility potion, unfortunately for her, she had attracted way too much attention and a whole barrage of arrows descended on me. Before darkness took her, she screamed out a warning to my companions before everything went black.

When Hayate awoke again, the sun shone through the curtained windows and she was alive, was it all a dream she thought – the goblins, the orcs, being surrounded in a broken fortress, hearing the angry buzzing sound of a thousand arrows and the piercing pain that followed, but no it wasn’t as my companions later told me what happened. Hayate was in a temple in a far way land recovering after being brought back from where ever it was that she went…

The moral of this tale, don’t be overconfident in your abilities and equipment because one wrong move and it may be all over for you…and if you are an elf to be resurrected costs 4000+ golds (unlike the 2000gp for humans and others - so unfair by the way) so have a lot of gold handy because they don't take credit. My team mates were left with a mere 700gp after paying for this magical healing. Now I have to find a way to recover all the gold that was spend on me, back to adventuring...
