Has anybody managed to solo improved Illasera?

I'm getting bloody owned by Illasera (the improved version); I can't seem to stay on my feet long enough to get a swing. I can take down any 2 minions (take your pick), before she just tears me a new arsehole.

Anybody managed to solo it?

What class are you soloing with, Cross?
If I remember correctly, the improved Illasera is an archer with tougher minions.

Possible scenarios:

If you are a magic user, Power Word Blind to take her out for a while can be very effective (it worked for my solo soc)- you need to cast lower MR first though. Summon pets and friends (eg elementals and planetars )to keep her fighters busy while you take care of her 2 mages. Not so easy, depending on the spells you have at the moment. I found Time Stop and Spell Sequencers (loaded with offensive spells such as Horrid Wiltings, Chaos/Confusion absolutely essential.

If you are some variation of a fighter or a thief, haste yourself and go for the mages first as they can instant-kill quite easily. The routine back stab, run, back stab, run doesn't work that well anymore as they can cast Time Stop, True Sight, among others.

Challenging battle, as a bhaalspawn fight is not one you can run away from and fight another day.

Hope that helps. Please let us know how you are doing.

Concentrate your efforts on her first.

I have soloed her as a berzerker/cleric.

I would advise you to use a great shield against her, and have the shield and sword skill. I killed the other minions first, but it would be wiser to kill her first, i killed the others mainly because its more fun to save the leader til last..

Just you wait til you get to improved gromnir solo.. Or abizagil.. Yagashura wasnt too bad..

I managed to defeat the improved demogorgon solo, its very easy with an evil character and the skill regeneration, just use that wand that takes away magic protection and stand there and hit him

The character is a dwarven Berserker that uses Axes, Hammers, and shields. He's got a +4 large shield, not sure how much more you could ask for. For all practical purposes, he's immune to magic (great saving throws, 60% magic resistance); neither the mage or the cleric managed to do anything to him. It's mostly that he keeps getting knocked back, and back, and back...and eventually the damage adds up.

I suggest you use one axe and a shield then. They make sure you run a lot up and down on the map to divide the enemy party, only illusera will be as fast as you in boots of speed. She may have a great offence, but she will miss a few if you use a shield, and have shield and sword style, that will add an additional 9 to AC. She isnt very tough in melee, and in enrage mode you get even more AC.

hehe, but just you wait til gromnir.. i think you will have a hard time.. where did you get 60 magic resistance though?

@King of Hearts:

A site with the unofficial tougher enemies is http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/bg2/media/files/#enhance.

@Cross:

Uhm... silly question - what are your weapon proficiencies? I presume you have 2 stars in Sword and Shield and grandmastery in the weapons of your choice?

That is a hard fight. She is an archer with an extreme thac0 below -20. Even if you use Boots of Avoidance, Cloak of Displacement, Fortress Shield and Sword + Shield style, still half of the arrows will hit. Use the Reflection Shield with warriors, Protection from Normal Missiles/Magical Weapons with mages and Phyisical Mirror with priests. She has an improved AI, so I think she won't kill herself.
Has anybody managed to beat her with a newly started ToB solo character?

The character has played through ToB once; without the improved bosses. I wanted to see if I could do it with improved. Just to test, I ctrl-yed illasera to death. Gromnir wasn't too bad.

As for 60% magic resist...Equipment, and +5% from the machine on his 1st run through. Here's his equipment, you can try to add it up and figure it out:

Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise
Cloak of Balduran
Helm of Balduran
Amulet of the Seldarine
Inertial Barrier
Boots of Speed
Ring of Gaxx
Ring of Fire Control
Shurupakk's full plate +3
Crom Faeyr/Runehammer/a fun throwing axe+4/Axe of the Unyielding
Darksteel shield +4

Somewhere in there, I get the resist. Maybe some of it is innate to dwarves?

But anyhow, I can't quite figure out what better equipment I can -have-; I have grandmastery in axes and hammers, 2 in sword/shield...
