All menus apart from main menu incredibly slow

Hi, the title pretty much explains it all. My options and multiplayer menus undergo a crazy drop in frame rate to the point that it takes a few seconds for mouse movement to register, also nothing happens when I click buttons. I know this computer can run dungeon lords as I have installed it in the past, but never have I had this issue. Has anyone else heard of this and know of any solutions?
