Well this has not happened before. I was in the druid grove when suddenly game crashed and PC rebooted (no idea what occurred). I restarted baldurs gate,but when I clicked load game (before the list of saved games comes up) I had the following error msg.... An assertion failed in ChVidImage3d.CPP at the line number 1947 ...
I've had the game about 10yrs and this has never happened before! Anyone any ideas how to correct it? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the game and that hasn't worked. I've done quite a few quests and don't fancy having to start again!!!!
You could try to move the folders in your save directory out one at a time until you can get to the load dialogue, then move them back except for the one right before you could access the dialogue again.
Hopefully the saves that work for you are close to where you were before the crash.

Thanks very much, it worked. Turns out my last save had been corrupted due to the crash, luckily my quicksave still worked and I had to redo 1 small quest which is better than restarting the whole game!! Yay!!
