BG 1 NPC. Your opinion.

What is the BG 1 NPC they should have put in ToB instead of Sarevok?
(may be spoiler) I say Tiax. He was absolutely hilarious in SoA! -- You remember, the ambitious, crazy gnome in Spellhold.
Tiax rules all!
NO ONE walks where Tiax walks unless he is standing upon them!
Too bad he gets killed by that nasty Irenicus

Coran, the best NPC of BGI. And no fighter/thief in BGII.

Kivan was by far the best NPC from BG, and I think he deserves to be an "official" character in the game. Until then, I'll gladly settle with Manveru's Kivan creation.

Bah Coran was by far the best NPC in BG1!
He was better than Kivan at firing Bows (20 dex kinda does that) and Coran could backstab for massive damage and hold his own in melee. Kivan? Didn't he use spears? (for anyone who doesn't know spears sucked in BG1)

For me Kivan was the coolest NPC.I whould have liked to have him back.I whould also have liked it if Tiax was able to join your group.( I whould want to see Tiax's reaction to meeting Cyric.)

How about Kangaxx? Or Firkaag? That would create some interesting problems when you go to an inn... "sure you can rest here, I got nothing against Bhaalspawn... but could you leave the dragon outside? They make such a mess indoors..."

Yeah, Coran was awesome in BG1. Multiclass was only a level behind in each class back then... ah memories.
You're right though, they should have added a theif type instead of Sarevok. Although Sarevok was a pretty cool addition...
Why did they just leave it at Sarevok anyway?

xan or kivan
'we're all doomed'
'while leader, i will endeavor not to get us all killed'

No one. Sarevok was the perfect choice

i was so dissapointed that they did not use sharteel at all after bgI. she was awesome and had one of the coolest soundsets.
(just wait. soon i will have her updated to go for tob.-once i find out what they did to make it all go horribly wrong! the sounds wont work, due to a new sound folder!!-those interested in using her for soa, go here******

I totally agree with Kitka. Sharteel was great and could have been dualled to thief (no good thieves in the game....)
I think they could make an official patch in the future with the "not-dead" BGI NPC to use them in SoA and ToB.....i think BG fans will be soooooo happy.....

They should have made the new NPC available from start, that's their biggest mistake. And I think just about any of the original NPCs would have been better than Sarevok. And why on earth did they feel it necessary to kill off half of the original NPCs? Poor Monty. At least Xzar join him in Hell so he won't be alone.

It would have been nice to see more NPCs from BG1...even in a small role, like Drizzt's. I know it would have taken more time to add more NPCs, but still. Yeslick, Kagain, Kivan, Xan, Ajantis (who is dead in SoA, the pc kills him at Windspear Hills)...I miss them all. I guess you just can't have everything.

is there anywhere where it shows you how to put them in, and make the dialogue and everything?
i'd have a go at putting them in, but i dont know how

What BG2 really needed was a dedicated Archer. Almost everyone in the game is a Mage or Melee fighter, no one is really suped up to just use Bows, that's why I think Kivan would've been the best to add to the game.

Well, Mazzy ain't bad. But I still would have loved to see Kivan again. I really like most of the new NPCs but the old ones are just pure nostalgia. Imagine them as well done as the new ones. Why Keldron when there was Ajantis? Why Korgan when we already had Kagain? And Quayle sure would be cooler than Aerie. Eldoth instead of H'D. Dynaheir instead of Nalia. And so on and so on...

What about mazzy? She's good with bows. I think Coran was a better archer that Kivan in BG, but I liked them both and had them both in my party alot - I think Kivan was a better melee fighter than Coran.
I miss Monty too

To my knowledge, Coran was primarly a theif, thus could only get 1(?) proficeincy slot. Kivan could get upto 5 (For some reason, Rangers and archers, for me at least, can always get grandmastery in Bows..) Also, Kivan has the better dex, of 19.

Sorry Aegis, you're wrong here. Coran was a Fighter/Thief with a extraordinary *** in Bows (although ** is the maximum). In addition, like Kivan, he was an Elf. Finally, he had an amazing Dex of 20. With a Tome on top of that he got an even greater bonus for ranged weapons. So Coran was by far the best archer.

Oh yeah, I forgot: IIRC, no Ranger in BG1 could get more than ** in any weapon, Bows included.
