How can I have fun with sandbox game?

I have three problems slightly linked.

One, quite often I am just running and nothing interesting is happening.

Seoond, I am always thinking of when I get higher level and it is hard to enjoy where I am.

Third, in the beginning you start out weak and I hate to go to the trouble of finding a quest or map location and then realize that I cannot complete the quest.

1. It's a Bethesda game: intresting things are bound to be far and few inbetween. It's best to focus on one town/city/region at a time, and do all the quests there, before moving on. It will help you focus, and most points of intrest are on the "routes" from quest origins to quest destinations. Keep an eye on the horizon for intresting ruins and such.
2. Nobody but you who can change that. I know the feeling, but there isn't a secret technique or something. Just enjoy.
3. Skyrim is so easy you'll never encounter that problem. Also, fast travel will alleviate the travel time.

Also, ask friends which quests are worth doing, there are plenty of boring quests, but some nice ones (I quite enjoy the thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood quests for instance).
Another thing is to try to play as something other than the "master of all" it is too easy to become. Like a vegetarian high elf mage without armor, forced to sneak and blitz enemies, while living in fear of being surprised by a mage.

I've found the game pretty hard. I play at one of above the easiest. Thanks for all the suggestions though. I am playing as a orc warrior who wants to be a master at crafting. I liked the quest with the dog :) I've seen the benefit of clearing one region rather than scatter. That way it is not so hard to remember if you have started any particular dungeon.

If you find the game hard, focus on crafting. You can craft ridiculously powerful gear, with virtually no hard parts, only boring ones.

Check out this guide, it might give you valuable hints.

Yeah that's the concept of my character. I don't want to learn any exploits like I saw in the wiki. The restoration fortification can be raised high and then for some reason you can get insane crafting.

So I am a crafter but I want game balance. I do use the synergy of using potions to boost enchanting and then enchanting an alchemy and smithing suit.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well I beat it which was very satisfying. My character build plan worked perfect to how I hoped.
