Which is better and what stats do they have?

Planetars seem to have more spells and are summoned by mages so I geuss that they have weaker stats, this seems to be true in combat too, Devas have very few spells and seem (to me) to last longer in battle so I suppose they're the tanks of the planes. Don't know the exact stats though

As for which is better, it depends on what you want judst like when your making your PC, I prefer the Planetars though as they are OK fighters but can cast tons of spells inc earthquake.

Planetars are much better. They have lots more spells and some weapon immunity that really keeps them healthy.

The question here is whould you prefer 'stats' or 'style'? Planetars are loaded and can comfortably take out a drake, but there cheezy and look like glow in the dark toys. Devas are more "sencible", less spells - quality not quantty, and far more pleasing to the eye. Thats not to say they wont get the dirty work done, they will - just not as "Uber D&D deathbot'ish" like a Planetar.
Ive only summond 'Dark' Planetars, and (light?)Devas.

Planetars are better in every aspect. I think they may have a shorter duration , or may be capped lower. But that's hardly a disadvantage, when mages have robes of vecna to speed up casting time. And also, since you can only have one celestial at a time , you have an exclusive choice of the planetar or deva, and there are so many cleric spells better than the deva.

In my oppinion, Planetars are visually better, yet the diffrences are little:
1. The Deva has 19 dex, while the Planetar has only 15, and that means that Planetars have -7 AC, while Devas have -11.
2. Planetars have 3 attacks per round, Devas have 2.
3. Devas regenerate 3 hp every 3 seconds, while planetars regenerate 1 hp every 2 seconds.
4. Planetars are hasted permenantly, and have a much larger veriety of spells. They use the vorpal sword (Silver sword) which has a chance of killing instantly. Devas use the mace of disruption +2 which gives then Negitive Plane Protection and makes them much better against undead. Both dispell on hit and Devas stun as well.
Devas will stay longer because generally, priests will reach higher levels than mages, and that affects the time they stay alive.
And about one celestial at a time - That's not exacly true. Have you're mage memorize as much planetar summons as he/she can, and as much project images. Cast project image, and the projected mage can summon as much planetar as he wants (I presume Edwin can conjure about 9 planetars this way...)
Hope this helps.

Sorry, I ordered the cheese-less version. Take this back to the kitchen, the pure cheese utilized in this plate gives me gastric problems.

Addendum: Do you really have trouble with any kind of undead in ToB ? Even multi-classed clerics can turn them to bits.

True, and even aerie can do a good job on them once she reaches around 3 million or so.
But its really nice to see exactly what is different about planetars and devas. so for hordes of undead, devas are the way to go, for anything else, planetars. its good knowledge to know devas have mace of disruption.
stolider did a good job.
so which look cooler, angelic planetar or dark planetar?

As a personal pref. I think I will play neutral and get dark planetars.
They look cooler, by a bit, and don't look too funky. all in all, both look pretty bad. not much work by the animation group, eh?
besides, darks have one added spell. unholy word. That might come in useful when I whack the silver dragon for her blood
