Umm. It might help if you give some details

A) symptoms/ why are you describe it as an an unusual crash (are there usual forms of crashing)

B) closly related your system specs , what video and sound cards you are using and their driver versions.

also Perhaps try the patch and see if it helps - that is what it is there for - also the next patch is due out within the week perhaps wait for that and see.

You know what, I just had the same problem. Whenever I try to insert the Playing CD, I click the safe mode version to play the game. All those intro movies play and after i see the loading skeletons, my game crashes.

Well, again, as Dimensional points out, maybe we can help if we know what's going on for your machine.

The one thing I've noticed is that it helps to remove all possible behind-the-scenes programs before loading a game. It helps to reboot first, too, since some memory may remain in use even after programs have been unloaded.

As dimensional said, sometimes interface crashes, and where people go they leave black trail, and when i'm scrolling the image copies the border and it's quite confusing to look at, and also recently i discovered that the game made an explorer error!

I have also tried to install and play the game on another machine, and it worked perfectly, and i didn't even do anything but installing it.

P. S. now i've downloaded the patch, but I haven't tested it yet

I too also downloaded the patch (1.0.7.4) but haven't tested it yet.

@ Teroril
This sounds like a video Error - Try updating your video driver or try run in safe mode - If you already are using safe mode Sounds like a bit more memory might help

@ Al Reyes

Your problem is actualy more easily solved. it is due to a conflict with the Copy protection on the CD and your CD Drive.
Either Talk to your Cd manufacturor and get a firm ware update(I have not tried this so don't know how well it works)
Or Copy Both Install and Play CD's into the same directory - unistall arcanum and the Reistall from the harddrive. Your should be able to play. You will require the play cd in your CD drive for the game to start but as the game never looks for data there it works.(well it did for me)

Hope this helps

I already solve my problem. My technician said that there was a problem with my sounds. I don't really know any techy things about computers. I notice that I didn't get the movie with the gunshot but the two intro movies I get. So I remove all the movies from the start-up except the Sierra and Troika logos (I don't know how to do this). It works fine now but of course, I won't be seeing any movies and hearing any sounds.

Sometimes when I insert the CD it says that its the wrong CD. After I re-insert it again it shows the autorun screen.
