Hello everyone. I just bough the series on steam and started Divine Divinity.
I started on hard (at first) with survivalist and i was hoping to go for sort of rogue character. I'v gotten to catacombs lvl 3 end just at the part where those Skeleton Guardians start appearing. They one shot me. Im lvl 6 and i hear ppl beat catacombs by lvl 5.

Iv also tried killing some orcs to get lvls but at this point its starting to get really slow. I gain levels but the orcs still kill me really quickly and for the past 2 hours i'v been kiting them down, feeling like i'm not moving forward in the game.

Finally i lowered the difficulty and skele guardians still one shot me and i'm still having problems with orcs unless i kite them down with a bow.
Getting really frustrated i'v been playing the game for 5+ hours and i'm still in the "starting town".
I'v been leveling a bit of str and constitution every level, but focusing mainly on dexterity.

So is this game really this hard, am i missing something or do i just plain suck. I mean i'v played crap load of games no matter if it's fps, rts, sports, rpg, but i haven't stumbled upon a game that's this hard before.

Ah. The enemies were already spawned on hard, so when i change the difficulty to easy, the previously spawned enemies won't switch to easy. Went to an unexplored area and the monsters didnt do any damage to me. I guess ill just stick to medium then, because hard is more like hellishly hard >.<

The catacombs are challenging, but the game does get easier as it progresses.

I think finishing off Aleroth and the catacombs took me the better part of 10 hours my first game. I didn't need to leave Aleroth to level, but was playing a warrior, which is a little easier than a survivor. I had trouble with the guardians in the 4 tombs, as well. With 3 of them I found the best approach was to stand as close to where they appeared as possible, to attack them immediately when they appeared; for the archer I found it best to withdraw and clear out all the minions first (without standing still too long) and then go after the archer when he was alone.

Poison Weapon used on your bow should help with the orcs.

Any tips?
