When starting a new campaign from chapter 2+

Why when you create a new character to start in chapter 2, it makes you level 1? How does the game expect you to play chapter 2 and beyond being a level 1?
The only other option is to choose a level 15 pre-made char, but then that is way too high.
Is this intentional or am I missing something obvious? Why can't I be level 7-8 when starting chapter 2 as was intended?

A flaw? In MY NWN OC? God forbid!
In all seriousness, if this bugs you, there are plenty of mods out there which let you level and outfit a character as you please. You can then export him and import him into the OC. Let me know if you need help finding one.

~ (which opens console)
DebugMode 1
~(open again)
dm_givelevel 1 (gives one level you can do 10 or 5 or whatever also)..
It^ will say to have a target and you click on your toon
For gear eventually you will get some gear. Theres probably a command to give gold

Honestly, Gawain, recalling the NWN OC, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Then again, I wouldn't wish Chapter 2 on him, either, so I don't really know why I'm posting here

That's my point: if you plan on taking on Chapter 2, better prepare yourself. Or dull your brain beforehand.

Or, better yet, to really prepare yourself, play a game like Planescape, realize how much better it is than NWN's chapter 2, then go back and play Planescape again
