Spies and such

How do we as a guild feel about spying on other guilds? You know like pretending to join them. I think I saw this somewhere a longtime ago. I just don't remember the answer. Maybe we should vote?

Spying on other guilds?
Even if people are roleplaying evil characters we're all still playing a game together, the idea of joining someones guild only to betray then is like stabbing a friend in the back. It would mess up others guilds destroy the trust between different guilds too and make it harder for new memebers to joing any at all so its best just not to spy in that manner.
Oh and thats a "No" vote

Those are all good points but what I am talking about is spying on the NPC guilds in Argyle. They have several.

I'd say no spying allowed, unless it would fit in with RPing (such as finding out who killed another guild member, to get even

)

I vote no.
It feels wrong from both as a roleplayer and as a person. These are other people and these sorts of tactics often spreads distrust and suspicion amongst gamers with little regard being placed on their characters alignment.
We could and should keep an eye on other guilds once in game but not to go as far as to join rival guild and betray them which is a big commitment when considering about Argyle.

Ugh, how about you not do that craig, or at least claim no ties to the Banshees if you do...
By the way, if you can find a way to spy in game, and it fits with your character, then i say yes. However, pretending to join a guild and spying on their message boards out of game is unacceptable. It is definitely meta-gaming.

Uh..., well, craig, I think that character of yours will be very shortlived over there, so plan for a backup character.
As to spying, I also vote no. I don't like the metagaming aspect of it. If others get enjoyment out of using such tactics toward us, let 'em try, but I think it would detract greatly from the enjoyment of the game as a whole.
However, I do like the idea of us joining other movements. I've been seriously thinking of having my blade character also involved with the White Mages (even though I won't be a mage). The WMs may be working toward goals my character would believe in, but I would essentially be a Blade working toward the repairation of the reputation of magic. I don't think it would be a conflict of interests here, but that depends on how "exclusive" the NPC guilds become. Some of them are more of a movement than a guild. Input?

Spying on forums = metagaming at its worst, so... no thanks!
Joining other organizations besides the Blades... Why not? It'd be interesting, at the very least. As long as you realize where your loyalties lie.

I believe Garret meant it in an ingame way anyway. My opinion away from a Paladin is yes, as long as your alignment/class reflects it. Out of game? No that is metagaming. I believe that we should'nt be able to join other player guilds that are out there, it should be DM run guilds only because of no meetings or whatever. Is everyone happy with that?

Well, since joining a player guild would prolly involve visiting their online forums and what-not, i think what Nippy is saying sounds reasonable...don't do it.
