Large-Scale Battles in Party-Based RPGs

Saw this on another forum and got curious: have there been many party-based RPGs where, during particular sequences, you're called upon to make tactical decisions for larger-scale battles?
Examples given included "Hordes of the Underdark" (NWN1), when you have to deploy the rebel forces throughout the city and your choices have a direct impact on how the battle progresses; "Dragon Age: Awakening", where the upgrades you make to Vigil's Keep affect what happens during the invasion (ie: if you fortified the walls, ogres won't break through); and "Final Fantasy VII", where you have to defend Fort Condor by placing troops and catapults in the enemy's path.
Can anyone think of similar situations in other games?
