Using Picking Pockets

I made it through most of the with out picking any pockets, and that is fine, but I read an article the other day and it mentioned all these great items I could get by picking pockets! Any recommendations? And if I go the pocket picking way, do I have to do it to everyone, or use my discretion, or what?

It's most useful when you have a Bard, who gets automatic points in Pickpocket, so you don't have to waste points from your Thief.
From the top of my head, every major NPC in Kuldahar is worth stealing from. This is purely by heart, but Oswald has a +2 Ring of Protection and the headhoncho Druid, Aurindal I believe, has a Ring of Freedom of Movement. The Wizard selling scrolls has a Necklace that allows you to memorise one extra lvl 2 spell. Other NPCs have various potions and scrolls, which are a nice source of income that early in the game and might help to get ready for the first dungeon.
