Can't Promote to Celestial

I've done the quest where you charge the crystal in the drake nests area, but when I bring the charged crystal back to the priests they don't give me the option to promote, they just talk about the shrines of power quest and the celestial class icon remains greyed out. Is there something I'm missing, the quest has also disappeared from my quest log.
It's the MMXII version.

You should only get the Shrines of Power quest after completing the Celestial quest. So if your Celestial class is still greyed out, then it sounds like a bug. Did you get the Scribe or Channel skills?

I didn't get either skill. Does it have anything to do with being a Thrall?
I also loaded another save from after I got the quest, but before I charged the crystal and it was the same outcome.

I never played as a thrall, but I don't see why that would cause the problem.
If you have a save from before accepting the quest, you could always check to see if the Monk quest works for you.

Did you have adept as a base class? Did you already fill the adept trajectory with another adept based 2nd tier class?

I was careful that I only accepted quests to get the classes I wanted. I had adept as my main class, completed the quest with the candle on the altar, and completed the charging of the crystal, but when I'd talked to the priest it skipped the dialogue of him telling me I'd been promoted and went right into telling me about the clarity crystals quest.
I made another Thrall who was nearly identical besides a couple different heraldry, and this time I was able to successfully unlock the class. The only difference this play through was that I didn't get the moonstone and lock myself out of Fargrove, as I was afraid that maybe I'd needed to go back to the priest there to complete it, which wasn't the case.
I assume it was some kind of bug that caused this. At least the second time I had a better idea of what to do so it didn't take me too long to take another shot at it.
Anyway, thank you for the quick responses, it can be a real pain trying to find solutions for older and less popular games sometimes.
