Arx Fatalis - Skill Cap?

I have finally started playing Arx Fatalis, after far too long.
It's been a really good experience so far, I feel something refreshing when I go back to older games like this- newer games just seem to lack something a lot of the time.
ANYWAYS- onto my question:
Is there a technical skill cap? It seems that you can increase skills above 100, but does this do anything?
I couldn't find anything that sounded very certain on my last google search.
