i've knocked melissan back twice now and after the 2nd pool (with cryonax) the battle with melissan is too hard

! i know to just focus on melissan but once she teleports away and starts attacking my prot. im dead in 10 seconds. she has about 4 slayer shadows, 2 glabezrus(or whatever), a balor and a truckload of other demons so i cant even get to her. i tried prot. form evil, i tried turning undead (the slayer
shadows ), i tried mid battle wish, i tried taking on her minions instead, i tried everything and nothing works. please help?
[additional] do you think its harder than the last 2 battles in watchers keep (final guardians took my about 3or4 tries, demogorgon i got first try - he was easier than his guardians, prince of demons yeah right.) but ive finished all that with fighting demo and this battle
seems alot harder. ?

Melissan is three of the toughest fights in the game. Any one of them (at a time) is easy enough but in a row it is hard to have a whole party survive. So it is not just you. Others may have specific hints but expect cheese. - Curdis !

first of all I disagree. Nalmrisa and her pals (the guardians) are the hardest IMO. second Melisan is killable with the right selection of spells. She is easier, like the demogorgen, because of volume. The guardians are 5 highly skilled characters, Demo is one extreimly skilled character as is Melissan, but is still only one character to focus on.

i agree that 1 is easier than lots which is exactly why melissan is harder. she dumps so many demons in your face, the teleports out and expects you to clean up the mess for her. i cant just waltz past them coz they kill me too quickly, ive already beaten the guardians and demo so i just dont know why i cant beat melissan this time

Melissan's 3rd incarnation is the fight I had most difficulty with in the game. Is was the biggest challenge I had since I faced Saverok as a wet-behind-the-ears newbie in BG1.
You should try and beat on yuor own, it will be more satisfying
but....
have you tried casting wish, perhaps with a poition of wisdom before turning the wheel and getting the rest option (reload a few times if you don't get it) this will give you all your abilities and spells back. Since Melissan isn't immune to lower resistance a good mage will always kill her (trigger 3xlower resistance, then open can of whupass). Plus although she is immune to timestop her summons aren't.
Project image/simmalcrum scroll cheese is another option here for making your spells last that bit longer.
Otherwise if you have a decent thief just trap up the area where she spawns (probably where she teleports to). She isn't at all immune to traps. Game over.

I´ve got no problems with Melissan on Core difficult. My party was a little fighter-heavy (Desaix the Inquisitor; Minsc; Sarevok; Jaheira; Aerie and Imoen) and she fell after a couple rounds greater whirlwinding her. I only used one scroll of Wish to rest after defeating her for the second time (ran out of whirwinds and summons). The highest level on the party was Sarevok´s 29 (Desaix was 27 but achieved 28 after I took out the Fallen Solar)
Anyway, I´ve had no problems with Nalmissara and her friends either. I´ve needed no traps to whack em down. The only fight that gave me serious trouble throughout the expansion was the Demon Wraith on Watcher´s Keep (thanks to the traps that surround my party)
Oh, and hello everybody, just joined the forum

To a certain extent you can ignore all the things she summons in the last fight, as it is only her that matter. Try surrounding her with your fighter, battering away while your mage lowers and takes away her resistances. Meanwhile have you priest chuck some Bolts of Glory, Holy Words etc at the daemons after summoning your own beasties to keep them occupied for a bit.
