Looking to kick some major butt

I've already played through SoA once with an Undead Hunter. I've got the expansion now, and I'm planning on restarting the game with a different character, but I'd still like to take a good fighting class(there's nothing more satisfying than kicking major ass). I'd like to stay away from the Paladin if I can, as I've already done the Stronghold stuff for them, but I can't decide which type of warrior to be.

Is there any class that can truly top an Inquisitor armed with Carsomyr? I'd like to try and play a character who can dual wield hammers and axes, and maybe flails eventually. Suggestions? Please don't get too complicated in terms of magic item combinations - I'm more interested in straight ace kicking. Thanks!

The first time through, I played a ranger and spent most of the game dual-weilding Celestial Fury and the Blade of Roses. Even though they're not the most powerful weapons (at least from a THAC0/damage perspective), pump up your two-weapon skill (rangers automatically get two slots in addition to their other proficiencies), get the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, Girdle of Giant Strength and some other magic items, and you will spend most of the game whooping up on the bad guys (at least until you start running into foes that take +4 and +5 weapons to hit).

In my opinion, Celestial Fury is one of the most useful weapons in the game for its stun ability.

I'd agree that celestial fury is the most useful weapon in the game. If your looking to dual wield hammers and axes, try making a dwarven berserker or barbarian. That way, your stronghold will be different and it's a fun stronghold to have. Plus, you'll be running around with stonefire, azuredge, crom faeyr, etc...

I´ve just begun my second run through the game after finishing SOA and TOB with an Inquisitor. I picked an elven fighter/thief and so far I´m having as much fun as the first time. I´m also playing on Insane, and going for different NPCs (altough I will keep Jaheira but develop her in another way).The fighter thief holds its own in a toe-to-toe fight and the adition of backstabing fun makes for the lack of armor. Lets see if Carsomyr will be missed as much as I think it will :D

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I think I'll try the Dwarf option, as the roleplaying value is obvious if I choose to go with the dual axe-hammer option. It kinda reminds me of the Dwarven Slayers from the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Regardless, keep up the posts, it's fun to hear what you guys think about major ass kickers. In SoA the best fighter class must be a dwarven barbarian dual-wielding FoA and DoE. The weapons are easy to get and you get them really early aswell. By the time you hit level 19 you will have 40% resistance to physical damage which effectively almost doubles your hitpoints meaning you will never be killed in melee.
A fun option is the dwarven kensai dual-wielding hammers and scimitars... this is the damage-freak!!

Bruce Lee, why do you choose the defender of easthaven as a second weapon. Is it because:

1. it's a flail, making weapon mastery quicker because the flail of ages, is well, a flail.

2. AC bonus because of barbarians lack of heavy armor.

I believe I've probably answered my own questions, but just checking. :D

try this, it sure sounds like a good idea.
