The Slayer

what am I meant to do with this slayer ability?
I get the feeling that a) it'll be bad turning into the slayer because last time it was apparently the result of me letting my guard down and being posessed by bhaal
and b) last time I couldn't stop killing stuff (party included) while in slayer form.

are you meant to transform into the slayer only if you've taken the 'I'm strangely drawn towards the glamour of being an evil god' line in dialogues throughout the game, or is it just a nice bonus to make up for the loss of Cure LW, slow poison and call upon holy might?

will anything bad happen if I turn into the slayer?
is it a good fighter?

no spoilers please (or very well labelled ones) ;)

Once you get out of Spellhold, when you turn into the Slayer you have complete control. The only cons are that you lose 2 reputation points and if you are the Slayer too long, you will die. It will warn you with a message something like "You start losing control of yourself", that means you're close to dying.

i don't consider the slayer ability a nice bonus to make up for loosing the other abilitys, i have never used the slayer ability apart from when it happened without my control.
i preffered the other *non-lethal* abilitys, they were much more useful.

If you're not some soloing mage, the Slayer is pretty useless. Vampiric Touch and Draw Upon Holy Might were great. :(

hey all,

i was wondering about the the reputation loss when you turn nto the slayer.

Is the loss of points cumalitive, i mean do you loose an extra 2 points every time everytime you turn slayer?

Yup, every time you loose 2 rep.

What exactly are the improved stats when in slayer form?

Don't fool yourself, Slayer is useful at at least one major time in the game, and that is Kangaxx, the Demi-Lich. The 2 reputation points are worth it then.

why kangaxx?

conveniently enough, I left the Kangaxx quest to come back and do it with Imoen, but why is the Slayer useful then? Magic resistance?

The Slayer has 25str 25dex and 25con.
100 HP
5 attacks per rond and does about 25-30 damage +2 cold damage per hit.
He great against Kangaxx because he's immune to amost everything - including imprisonment.

The Slayer is extremely useful against the Demi-Lich because it's one of the only attacks that can hit him. He's completely immune to all magic whatsoever, and only +5 weapons can hit him, and even then they only do about 2 damage each time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only two +5 weapons in the game are the Holy Avenger and Drizzt's Scimitar whom I chose not to kill as well as most other people, so for most people it's only the Holy Avenger. You should get two Ring's of the Ram, first pickpocketing it from Tolgerias, and second looting it from his body once you kill him in the Planar Sphere. If you choose to not use the Slayer, and keep the 2 reputation points, it all counts on luck. Just hope you get 30 damage (Maximum) or close to 30 damage with each Ring of the Ram. Then, you just finish him off with the person using the Holy Avenger (of Drizzt's Scimitar).

However, if you do use the Slayer, it's a ton easier. Still use the Ring's of Ram, but this time, you can hammer him constantly with the Slayer, as well as the person(s) using +5 weapons. Seeing as how the Slayer hits almost everytime, this is ACTUALLY an easy fight.

The demilich is vulnerable to all +4 and better weapons.
And once you know how to deal with his imprisonment (spell immunity: abjuration, protection for Undead scroll, protection for magic scroll) he's rather "easy".
There're many +4 weapons or better in the game by the way. At least 3 weapons that can hit Kangaxx are available in chapter 2.

I prefer slayer form to open up mind flayer doors, since its easier and I dont have to screw around with project image and mind control a flayer to do this, also very useful for keeping in control of rep since have viccy in party...

also, greater whirlwind and slayer form is great for red dragonas and any fire based creatures...

just as good as draw on holy might, and more generally usefulll....think crom, and you no longer miss draw on holy might, even though my main char uses holy avengenr exclusively...

Its also a great way to keep your rep low if you've got an evil party and don't want to hear their constant complaining if you do too many good quests. I use it alot since there is too much xp to be had in going the helpful route and if i hear edwin/korgan/vic complain about rep one more time i'd prolly kill em myself. Makes the game alot easier too since you use it so much.

BTW, slayer change and tensors transformation with a scroll is a bad idea, i couldn't change back to normal and died. :( He had some badass stats tho... 300+ hp and such with my berserker mage dual.

Do you mean that the slayer (I did never turn myself into) has "only 100 hp" or that you get a bonus of 100 hp to your actual hp?
If is the former it is not so great (is actually a loss for any warrior type PC), and because probably any good warrior type PC with good weaponery, draw u.h.m., haste can deliver that damage (and rage for berserker and barbarians gives raughly the same immunities), in that case I don't think is a good trade off (maybe can be good for weak type characters like mages or thief).

Sling of Everard is +5 and staff of Magi hits as +5, while are you sure that Drizzt's scimitar is +5, because although is called "scimitar +5 defender" description says bonus to Thac0 and dmg are +3?

If you know how to do Gaax is often an easy fight:

I got Aerie and Nalia with spell immunity abj, ring of ram, sling of Everard and MMM and in few seconds he went in moral failure and I could finish it with my paladin (with Carsomir).
And I was in Chapter 2 (around lv. 13).

Ummmm...okay, consider yourself corrected.

Crom Faer, maybe? Also +5, and if you haven't assembled it...you should! ;)

Is it my fault it doesn't say +5 on any of those weapons!
