Where is the Heart of Winter?

Post by Invincible121 »

Hey all,

I read somewhere that the dorns deep problem can be fixed by installing HoW.
I thought to myself "yeah wooooo" finally i can get out of that pissy ice place mave one with the game,
so i looked in the shops and could only find a double pack of IWD and HoW, and it was about £30, so i thought fine thats ok it will be somewhere else...but it was'nt!
I t does'nt seem to be in any shops anywhere, online and off!
Not even Amazon or BOL have it.

i am at total loss, if anyone can recomend a reliable supplier of the english version of the game please can they tell me :)

Would be helpful to know where in the world you are. The Tween dimensions are kinda unknown to me ;)

Chips & Bits has it in stock (check the ads at the bottom of the page) but the shipping costs might be very high depending on where you are.

My other thought would be something like ebay. You might find a retailer near you trying to unload overstock :)

Umm... didnt really notice that. And its really not that obvious. I always use £ or $ in english message boards... i mean, does 500 NOK (Norwegian Crowns) make any sense to you?

the dorns deep problem only affected disc 2 of English games.
inlower dorns deep the bug makes it imposible to travel to the rest of dorns deep because of an 'assertion failure in line number.........'
there are patches out there it is just hard to find them, i have managed to find any yet

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
The patch did'nt work, it still says there is a failure in assertion thingy line number 1723 or some number like that, and that the demand for the WED file failed.
Pleaseopleaseoplease help, Sojourner have you got anything to say?

Actually, Gruntboy is the IWD-Know-It-All. :D At any rate, here's what I found:
  • Black Isle's advice on handling assertion error 1763 (UK version only)
  • You can check here for Black Isle's info on assertion errors.
  • You might need to update Direct X on your computer - check here and follow the links.
  • Sometimes clearing the cache helps when the game crashes on area transitions.
  • If all else fails, post in the Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter Troubleshooting forum - there's usually someone there who can help you out.

Yes, delete everything in the data folder (in the cache folder, not the IceWind Dale folder) - don't delete the data folder itself.

@Invincible121 - I trust you did not delete the cache/data folders themselves...just the information they contained :)

If you uninstall the game - it will not delete your save folders. It may be worth backing them up just in case, but they will normally be left in your IWD folder :) btw - you are welcome with regards to the patches ;)
