So IWD2 definitely is not going to use the D&D3 rules for multi-classing and stick with the old AD&D dual-/multi-class combos?

i wish that there was a cleric/mage(or sorceror)/thief class.
or even choosing to be specific types of those classes, a priest of lathander/sorceror/swashbuckler.
the ownside of that would be takig so long to level and be good in eachclass, but that would be a good solo class i spose.

You know, it's been so long since I last played an AD&D game that I've almost forgotten how the old multi-class and dual-class rules work.
IMHO 3E is much smoother and more fun with better multi-classing rules. So I'm racking my brain to try and remember how the old rules worked and what the dynamics of each class combination would be. A Ranger/Bard eh? I guess a singing woodsman would be kind of cool.

What's up with a paladin/thief??? A mighty warrior, upholding the virtues of law and order while he's picking your pocket?

It's an odd combination, but definitely not out of the question. A former street thief who had a life altering religious experience, but still has the skills and uses them when adventuring. Most thief skills have lots of uses that arent evil. Even pick pockets. This can be used for sleight of hand of any kind, not just stealing.

ok, ok you're right, but it still seems a bit strange, i mean stepping over from thief to paladin is a BIG step.

I gotto agree. Thief to Paladin is a big step.
If only they used some other word, not thief, i don't know rogue, maybe something else. 'Cause you could have a paladin that has some rogue skills, like... stealth, find/disable trap even set traps, but no pick pocket or stuff a thief would do.

How about a Bard/Cleric, He could be a devote of Sune Firehair or a god of music (can't remember one off the top of my head). He could even be a priest of a scholarly god.
I like the Ranger/Bard idea. I am actually seeing an Archer/Bard though...
