Half-orc Barbarian/fighter - Gore Rageblade (custom)
Halfling Monk/rogue - Kar Topknot (custom)
Elf Paladin/sorcerer - Moondancer Silverblade (custom)
Faeril
Ethan
Jariel
Never really had probs with the encounters in the game with the exception of Bergos and Co.

I just started a solo game a week ago so I kinda abandoned my other game. My party is:
Half-Elf - Fighter/Monk
Half-Elf - Cleric/Paladin
Half-Elf - Ranger/Rogue(wish i woulda done Rogue/Barbarian)
My solo character is a Half-Elf - Paladin/Monk and she's working out just fine. I haven't skipped any battles so far, and the only monsters I have trouble with are Master Shadows.

@skuld
I see you finally used the Cleric/Paladin combo
.

Yea, he combo was working well, but I got bored of that game and am concentating on my solo game now, which is so much more fun. I have a Half-Elf Paladin 8/Monk 3, AC 22, 166HP. I'll probably finish the Dwarven Dungeons my this weekend. And for anyone who hasn't tried a solo game yet, i highly recommend it. Although it's rough to start it get so much easier after you get to lvl 3.

@skuld
I'm going solo this week with a monk.. don't know yet with what i'll combo him. I thought the rogue was not very imporart cause i didn't want to use one, maybe only because you get to have some easy xp at the start. I see that you don't use one, so it is possible to go without a rogue? I want to try this paladin/monk multiclass after all
.

My ongoing party is thus:
Half elf female Ranger/cleric (cunning stunt)
Halfling Rogue/sorcerer (Yoda)
Half Orc Fighter/cleric (Rev' Els)
Half Orc Fighter/paladin (Orcson)
Faeril
Jariel
Although I'm jogging along nicely, the only character I would change is Yoda. as the rogue/sorcerer combo is just not working out

Don't change your rogue/sorcerer, you're just not using it correctly. Give this character a bow, use the mage armor spell, haste, and other prep spells. Many items in the game can only be used by mages, or thieves, so look for them. Keep this character in the back ranks, use magic (confusion is great, followed by fireball - can you say toast?), when the magic runs out, use the bow. Give a secondary weapon (there are many good ones, some are daggers, others are shortswords) for the times your character gets in trouble. Consider adding the monk class to this character, or a fighter class. That will boost his/her power. For the fighter class, consider the paladin, it shares charisma with the mage (for turning, and for lay on hands, etc). The monk class is good for saves, and ac (and also for monk only items, like the dbl-dam book). Never despair, there is always a way to turn that wishy-washy character into an asset.

Ok, mines not fancy but they get the job done in a hurry, haven't had a battle last more than 3 rds in awhile.
Human Cleric/Monk Deric the bumbling Cleric
Halfling Rogue/Fighter Rogurt Stickyfingers
Elven Sorceress/Ranger Golwina Erinsdatter (old D&D favchar)
Dwarf Paladin/Sorcerer Ulf Brogason (another old D&D char)
Jariel
Faeril
quick question is 32 the max multiclass levels ie 16/16 or 16/8/8 or can it go higher I.E. 13/14/15/16 assuming someone would want a multi class with 4 classes

The multiclass level is capped on the 32th level.

Which means that any combination of classes, up to 32 levels (ex: 16/16, or 16/8/8, etc). However, getting the xp's for this in the single game is extremely hard. The multi game is better...

I started the game with a single character, a cleric, added levels as rogue and fighter later. I found, though, that there were a lot of battles that took a lot of restores to get through - some because I was not yet good enough, some because there are just too many of those suckers for a lone character to hack himself through before going down. I felt this kind of lost the intent, as one gets killed, you really can't hit the restore button. But, as this is fantasy, it is perfectly acceptable to have somebody resurrect you after you screwed up.
To make a long story short, I finished all but a couple big battles in the Main Halls then acquired Jarial. With him I was able to complete all the Dwarven Dungeons and the last thing I did was acquire Emmeric. I added Faeril when the opportunity arose and used these until meeting Athlan in the Castle.
Half the reason for picking up those fighters was because you had so many really neat weapons and just HAD to use them <g>. I dropped Emmeric and Athan after killing off Pelandaar and am now just trying to finish a couple of odds and end I missed.
Final Party:
Joan d'Arche Cleric16/Rogue4/Fighter4
23str/17dex/22con/14int/19wis/14cha 331HP
Jarial Sorcerer16/Rogue3/Ranger4
14/15/18/10/17/16 175HP
Faeril Fighter11/Cleric12/Sorcerer1 (a mistake when I leveled her up)
22/15/18/10/17/16 241HP
Emmeric Fighter16/Barbarian5
21/15/17/16/8/10 242HP
Athan Fighter16/Rogue2
22/17/20/12/9/9 251HP
With this party, the final assault on the castle was quite straight forward although I did have to resurrect Faeril at one point. I used Jarial and Athan as fire support and the other three for assault. Lots of magic here and if one plays it cagey, many encounters are over without swinging a sword. When it does come to sword play, Emmeric (as equipped) could take down as many as four cultists in a turn; Faeril 2. They were even harder on Dragonkin and gargoyles.

Whoops, made a mistake on my last post. The stats for Jarial are wrong, they should be:
14/18/16/16/10/22 175HP
Also, Joan d'Arche is half-elf. Their natural immunities are a must. She was never held and I think only got paralyzed once in the entire game. The humans could never claim that record.

Well my human Paladin never got paralazed too
due to his high charisma (finally 22) and his extremely high saving throughs, in fact only a few times he didn't managed to save in the entire game.

Show's you what I know <g>.
I had trouble with others in my party, from time-to-time, with respect to resistances. Early in the game, I had more bonuses on the charisma (better turning, more spells) but later it became apparent that I had enough abilities in that respect without that high a charisma so I moved to concentrating more on strength, constitution, and wisdom. Since there is a limit of +1 dexterity bonus, there was no need to boost that overly much and intelligence was also not a biggy; although I understand that skills advance faster with a higher intelligence.
