ok guys, i need some input/advice on this one.
hypothetical situation:
I have a dwarf in BG1 and i make his constitution 19 (this can be done, correct?) And then i get the tome of hardiness or whatever its called. So then with my constitution 20 i start to regenerate (is this right? or do you only regenerate in BG2?) so i'm regenerating, but awful slow. So then in BG2 one of the very first items i get is the ring of regen. Does my regen. from the const. get canceled out? or does it stack? is there any point of having a high const. when you don't regenerate because of it?

The only part of that I can answer for you is that regen items in BG2 are definitely stackable, but they have to be of the same kind. Two regen rings, for example, will speed up your character's regeneration at double the rate of one such ring, but a ring won't add to the regen rate of an ioun stone. In the latter case, simply the fastest regen item is used.

The regeneration is cumulative, although I am not sure that a high CON enables regeneration; it does in PnP D&D, but the Infinity Engine may not use those rules. The other reason to have a high CON is that it increases your chances of surviving resurrection and fighters get more HP per hit die.

There is some more discussion on the subject here.

I can confirm that a 20 con makes you regenerate in both games.
But if it stacks I do not know, as the regen. from con is rather slow (still very useful in my opinion).
