Is Edwin blind?

This time through BG1, I had Edwin join my party. I also have Minsc. By the time I reached the gnoll fortress, both were dead, but I continued on and rescued Dynaheir. Now, as I reach the Nashkel mines, Edwin suddenly says "I have hired you for a purpose and expect results. If the witch is not found and dealt with soon I shall be forced to sever our relationship(gladly, I should think)." Dynaheir is standing directly in front of him as he says this.
Does this mean he's going to leave my party eventually?

First of all did you resurect them or something because how can Edwin be complaining when he's dead. And I thought you had to kill Dynaheir to fulfil his quest. Just a thought. Hope you can resolve this.

Spoilerish:
IIRC Edwin DOES want you to kill Dynaheir, but if you refuse he won't leave.

It sounds like you joined Dynaheira and THEN resurrected Edwin? That would mean that they never had that fun dialogue with Edwin mentioning he'll keep his eye on her, and Dynaheira retorting that she would as well but she expects to get less pleasure from her task than he will in his?
If they never had the dialogue it probable never clicked for Edwin. I suggest saving (In case something goes horribly wrong like either Dynaheira or Minsc not wanting to rejoin) and then kicking Dynaheira out and rejoining her...the dialogue should happen then and all should be good.

Right, I did wait until after Dynaheir joined my party to resurrect Edwin and Minsc. And some how I found it easier to fight through a horde of Gnolls with a Fighter, Thief, and Mage than with a Fighter, Thief, Mage, Ranger, and Cleric.
Alright, if I get around to resuming that particular game, I'll give that a try. I might not resume that game since I made it before finding out that Kensai can't be Chaotic Neutral as I was planning on dual-classing her to Kensai/Mage in BG2 and having a cat familiar.

I always have a full party when I go to Gnoll Stronghold (Main character, Minsc, Khalid, Jaheira, Imoen and Edwin). I let Khalid fight the Gnolls alone, so he dies. Then I kill the rest of the gnolls, and before I talk to Dynaheir I kick Edwin. Dynaheir joins, Minsc is happy. I send Dynaheir, alone against the Gnolls blocking the exit, so she dies. Then I pick up Edwin again, he is perfectly happy. Then I pick up either Viconia, Tiax or Quayle.

Well, I had Minsc, Jaheira, Edwin, Imoen, and Viconia. I don't like Jaheira much in BG1, so I killed her in order to make room for Dynaheir, who I do like. I had a full party when I left Nashkel. It's just, by the time I got to Dynaheir, half my party was dead, including both Minsc and Edwin. It won't bother me much if Edwin leaves, since I don't like Red Wizards of Thay anyway.

You heartless beast.
I usually kill Edwin at first sight, rescue Dynaheir and let Minsc and Dynaheir rejoice of seeing each other again. Then let Minsc die in a battle and make way for Ajantis…

This reminds me, I haven't yet confronted the notorious Red Wiz in my ongoing game. Excuse me for a moment, I'll do that now

Done, Edwin killed - once again. No challenge, Edwin so soooo soft. Muhahahahahahhaaa....
Well, Minsc is OK, at least Boo is fun. But there's no room for him - Ajantis is more versatile. By Helm!

Who's Ajantis?
I've only been completely through BG1 once and there were several NPCs I never saw.

IIRC, (been so long since I've played the original), Ajantis is a paladin found in the area (can't remember the name of the area) with all of the ankheg's as well as the pit that you find the boy in. I could try to find my notes to get more specific if you wish.

Okay...I vaguely remember running into him. The most likely reason I didn't remember him is that I don't tend to use Paladins.

Forgot to mention, you end up killing him in BGII in Windspear. You don't have a choice either.

Don't use paladins? How do you then lay on hands?!?!?!?!
I find him a good substitute for priests, as he can do some healing and give Protections of Evil. And he's handy in combat.
I'm traveling light in my present game - only my own character; a multi fighter-thief-mage, and Ajantis in my party. I don't have the cohones to totally solo, yet...

Ajantis is a totallly screwball paladin who serves Order of the Most Radient Heart. He keeps babbling about Helm all the time, which is quite annoying, but I keep him still.
BTW from Ajantis' bio you can find 1st references of Keldorn, a mighty NPC paladin in BG2....

I don't need a Paladin's lay on hands or protection from evil. I have Viconia with all her Clerical spells.
I haven't gone solo in BG1 yet, but I have gone solo through IWD.
I just started a game this morning. I've currently got me, a True Neutral Human Fighter(to become a Kensai/Mage in BG2), and Imoen(not to be dualed to mage). I killed Montaron and Xzar when I came across them. Now I'm on my way to Friendly Arm Inn. I plan on picking up Viconia, Minsc, and Dynaheir. Not sure if I'll grab anyone else.

Paladins are annoying. I met Keldorn in BG2, but he didnt' get to join my party either.
I also dumped Anomen soon after he became Sir Anomen because he became more annoying than a Paladin.
