Game locks up when waylaid

Please help. My game locks up in the 4th chapter when I get waylaid by spiders and those dragon looking things when I leave the mine area.
If you do not have the TotSC expansion installed, go here and get the patch. If that doesn't help, try going here and following the directions for dealing with runtime errors and crashes.
