Haer'dalis cast Melf's Minute Meteors and threw a few at some little monsters and after that, he still had 7 left in his weapon slots. However, whenever I select the little meteors to throw, he uses his melee weapons instead! I can't really clear up the slots or use them. Help me!

Something similar happened with me once too. I just went back to an earlier save. You could try casting dispel magic on Hairy, as it gets rid of the meteors.
